No, this was not a take two on Katy Perry and Snoop Dogg's "California Girls" performance from the MTV VMAs (by the way, word on the street is Snoop requested a cue card for one of his only challenging lines, "Greetings loved ones, let's take a journey"...really Snoop?). More»

couture candy Because it's Friday afternoon and because this Letarte suit is just too damn cute to pass up, I'm going to be nice. How can I not? Even though I'm not big on dangling charms, the little coral and seashells are charming, and not at all ostentatious. The pattern, and the colors, are gorgeous and, at this stage in the summer, very flattering. The model doesn't seem to dig it as much as I do, but at least she's healthy looking. ish. As soon as I rustle up $156, this baby's mine.

bandeau bikiniA friend asked me yesterday why I never have anything nice to say about fashion. My answer, other than a hurt look, was that I do, but others say it much more eloquently. Apparently, that did not suffice, so just this once, here is a Syla by Sylvie Cachay suit I love, love, love. Love the pattern, love the bows, love the colors, love the cut. Don't love how the model doesn't seem to be on my love-wagon, but I suppose that's her prerogative. No matter, this suit is a must-have (or will be, once it goes on sale)!

brown bikini and skirtSkirt aside, my issue here has nothing to do with the suit. It's a perfectly fine, basic bikini top. One which is certainly not, as advertised, a D-cup. Maybe it's a B. Maybe. I mean, come on J.Crew; if you're going to devote an entire section of suits to the amply endowed, it might be wise to show photographic evidence of the suit's existence. What works for a Mary Kate might be quite as effective on a Pamela (though, in her mascara-clogged vision, less is always more).

bikini car washAnd you're invited. Go take your luxury vehicles for a long offroading session, and then meet us Saturday morning at the Core Dynamics in Water Mill. If we like your ride; it just may end up on our site. Don't trust us near your pride and joy? We're also in need of able (and bikinied) bodies!

CD's insanely buff and very motivational Kettlebell maestro, Lorna Kleidman, will be giving demonstrations, there'll be a raffle for free passes to the gym itself (if you haven't been before, it's one of the nicest facilities I've ever worked out in) and you can try our fav Aussie tennis pro Heinz Haas' new vitamin and electrolyte-packed energy drink, SoNu.

Core Dynamics is located at 58 Deerfield Rd in Water MIll, right off 27 in Water Mill. Look for the signs and lovely sign-holders!

green birkin bikiniI think if you detach the suspenders, this wouldn't be so bad, but the suspenders are the focal point of the suit. Judging from its color -"birkin green," the designers are going for a classy equestrian undertone, but I think waves and whinnies are of the oil/water category, though the model is doing her damnedest to prove me wrong. Am I?

woven swimwear from missoniI'm not really feeling this one. Missoni is cool in a 70's Italian film star/privileged hippy way, and Margherita nearly always makes it look good, but I just don't think string bikinis should be literal. For one thing, you can't swim in them -the tag even advises against it, and for another, unless you have a rock hard or prepubescent body, they aren't all that flattering. This model has a great body and the suit kind of ruins it. Plus a copious amount of dangling brown yarn is never a good idea.
