Back for another installment of culture, fashion and cocktails to brighten up hump day, Filter Foundry's monthly Art House Nights event returned this week to Palihouse. This time around, collections from fashion designer Donna Mizani, artist Paul Rusconi and luxury eyewear boutique Optical Connection were the featured works on display for a night of 12-12-12 festivities with music and friends.
Last night I saw a pack of dirty hippies in Davey Crockett coonskin caps hardcore frolic across the intersection of Sunset and Gower, barefoot, and I'm 95% sure they were on some combo of E and acid. It was 7:45pm. Unfortunately, I don't have a photo of it for you, but we do for these other unbelievable, obscene, and just plain strange occurrences and sights seen that took our breath away over the last few months. Just because you're not a video gamer, that doesn't mean you shouldn't drop everything when you get invited to a big fancy video game launch party. After all, video games are the new blockbusters, with major titles making comparable money to major movie releases– only their parties are way less stuffy than the typical red carpet zombie shuffle we've all grown bored with. It's how we end up with things like The Black Keys rocking out in Chinatown, or in this particular instance, Dim Mak Studios getting a far East makeover to celebrate the upcoming launch of the Hong Kong-set crime action title, Sleeping Dogs. It's not our place to say whether the anger and outrage of the neighbors of Sunday's Hudson Block Party is inappropriate. We're just saying if the residents occupying the same vicinity as the West Hollywood Halloween Carnaval, Elton John's Oscar viewing party, or just the routine shitshow that takes place outside the Hudson and the rest of Santa Monica Blvd on the weekends are this "disgusted" over the Hudson Block Party, it must have been one helluva messy rager.
