Last night, BlackBook Magazine hosted a party for their superstar writer Steve Lewis at Greenhouse. It was his One Year Anniversary party of being with the Magazine (he switched over from Joonbug), and we can’t believe it’s already been a year! Spent of course reading his often hilarious posts on NYC nightlife, with a spin only Steve could provide. Paul Sevigny, Jesse Marco and Matt & Maia spun, with a live music presentation by LMFAO and an open bar by Svedka.  Steve had girls hanging on him all night per usual, however what we really want to know is if either of these young ladies is the winner of his serial dating spree? Steve?

Dreams really can come true.  Today, we hear word that Blackbook will be helping their number one writer, (and our good friend), Steve Lewis find a new girlfriend (because his spinning session at Southside last night was obviously a dead end in the girl department). Do you think you have what it takes to make Uncle Stevie happy?

“Details are still being hammered out, but from a pool of interested applicants, a group of the most eligible nominees will be selected by an impartial jury of peers (i.e. the ladies of BlackBook who have decreed that I need their guidance). Finalists will then be treated to a variety of “dates”—

Looks like there is some disconnect over at BlackBook. Everyone was excited for our favorite Uncle Steve’s move over to the big magazine when they bought his “Goodnight Mr. Lewis Column” from Joonbug. There were parties and celebrations. Steve’s taken a little bit of a much needed and deserved vacation from work, and while he’s away we noticed something that editorially didn’t match up.  In Steve’s end of the year post on the “Best New York Nightlife Of 2008” (where he kindly named us for best site), he included Circle, the Korean joint in Midtown as one of his best clubs.  Blackbook’s review of Circle is far from kind, and Steve, even at the expense of his job, sticks up for his own……

Monday night, BlackBook hosted a party for their newest star, Steve Lewis at his newly opened Aspen Social Club.  Steve is happy with the turnout:

“Last night a DJ saved my life. Marky Ramone, my old friend, was kind enough to display his considerable skills at a party BlackBook threw me at Aspen Social…This gathering was the biggest flashback I’ve had since I licked that aluminum foil in the bathroom of Save the Robots.” [Blackbook]

“Don’t you think it’s funny that some people spend their whole lives trying to become writers and then you just show up one day and get a column for Blackbook Magazine?” -Steve Lewis’ girlfriend to him

Steve Lewis may be obnoxious and crass at times, but he’s also charming and sweet.  Enough so to scoop up a lady that is not only an attractive young bombshell, but intelligent to boot. He’s been a successful club manager for decades, and has designed spaces that will go down in history.  Then he decided he would reinvent himself and try being a computer geek for a bit.  It’s hard to imagine what our city’s blogosphere would be like without uncle Steve relaying his secrets for us, a job he undertook only 7 months ago, and one that brought him back into my life.  Today, Steve has turned over yet another new leaf: he has left Joonbug and moved to Blackbook Magazine, where he will debut with a post that will have everyone talking.  Steve, ever faithful, and always good to his word, called me up today to give me the first scoop.  I answered from the Omaha airport, a most fitting setting for the town he derives my nickname from.

Me: “Why now?  Why are you leaving Joonbug at this point in time and was the decision a hard one?”
SL: It was definitely a hard decision. I have always respected and supported the guys at Joonbug and will continue doing so. I’m good friends with Jon (Jon Gabel bought the publication this summer), and plan on helping them on projects such as New Years Eve. But it’s not every day that you get asked to be part of an organization like Blackbook Magazine. I think I got as far as I could at Joonbug, I took it as far as I could go and now I’m ready for the next level, a new opportunity. It’s like playing at Yankee Stadium for me…

What goes around comes around party

Go HERE for more photos of this event by Ben Kaufman.

“What Comes Around Goes Around” may be the title to a Justin Timberlake song, but it’s also the brand name of New York’s premiere vintage apparel, and it was celebrating it’s 15th Anniversary this weekend at The Hudson Terrace.  Blackbook Magazine threw the bash and gofg’s  Ben Kaufman was there to get the scoop, and from what he told us, the line to get in was a block long, the theme was ’30s Cuban, and the presentation upstairs on the roof was pretty hectic “as these events usually are.”  Rock Pianist Eric Lewis was an added bonus to the show.

Out of luck finding those summer hats everyone is sporting?  Just grab a funky bandana and rock it out like nobody’s business.  Eli Fife Cragin did just that at the Blackbook party this past weekend over at Kobe Beach Club.  Paired with the “hot” yellow color too….this guy’s got it going on.

Let us catch our breath before we begin. Ok, ready, here we go.

We began our night with dinner at La Esquina with Matt Levine. Matt is the owner/designer of Steelo Clothing but we weren’t there to discuss clothes. He was excited to tell us about his newest venture, The Eldridge. The Eldridge is the name of the new club that is going to be opening within the next couple of weeks. We know you’ve all heard this before, but we believe this time it’s true, the Eldridge is going to be unlike any club in New York City. The Eldridge is going to be more exclusive and luxurious than anything currently out there. It is going to raise the bar on New York nightlife. And that’s all we can say…for now.

Ever been in a room full of people you’re sure are fabulous but whom you don’t actually recognize? We were, last night at Blackbook Magazine’s May issue bash, held at the “First you need to get in. Then you need to be cool enough to get a table. Then you can get bottles” glory that is 1 Oak. Somehow we got in that door and, later, into a cushy banquette next to our lovely chum Model Behavior. First though, we ran into the ever dapper Single Threat, who was able to give us the down-low (low-down? no doubt) re the buffed and de-puffed cognescetti getting their Skky-fueled freak on to the Beatles and Britney.
