Bridgehampton Polo officially kicked off Saturday afternoon with the Mercedes Benz Polo Challenge and will be making it's way through everyone's Hamptons social calendar for the next six Saturdays of summer. New Yorkers and East End regulars including Star Jones, Richard Johnson, Noah Tepperberg, Adrien Field, Douglas Marshall, The Zarin Family, Chace Crawford, Beth Ostrosky Stern, and many more stopped by the Blue Star Jet Field to cheer on the polo players during their opening day while socializing and fitting in photo ops, of course. Bridgehampton Polo is one of those summer events building anticipation the moment the car's packed for that first bumper-to-bumper trek east in June. Oh the schmoozing! The clothing! Oh right, and the actual polo! So it's sort of hard to imagine this stand alone affair partnering with a chip company to get the tents even more hopping, but that is very much the case, this year. The Mercedez-Benz tournament partnered with Pop Chip, More»

This Saturday was the closing day at those beloved Polo fields in Bridgehampton. What will we do without all of the weekly photos coming from those sartorially-correct crowds out east?  Last weekends Polo event was sponsored by Hamptons Magazine and the HRS Princess foundation with OnDa Ground music's special live performance of the song “If Not For Grace” for charity. Sixty percent of the proceeds from the sales of the song online benefit various children's charities including, children international, Darfur now and others.

The crowd was impeccable on Saturday and I got a chance to catch up with Nascar’s Tim George Jr, trade fashion tips with Katrina Peebles, and muse over weekend plans with Social Life’s Devorah Rose. Then there was Teddy John, Brianna Swanson, Becca Marcus, Emily Brill, Ariel Moses, Stephanie Wei, Adriel Reboh, Clint Spaulding, Tamie Peters Thomas, Rich Thomas and on and on and on…I walked by David Lauren and Lauren Bush and wished they’d call me over to say hi (they would actually have to know me to do that); all while managing to keep a safe distance from Michael Lohan – this year’s unofficial Polo Mascot (as deemed by me).

From Plum TV:
Match or no match, the question we had was whether Hamptonites like their champagne at polo. To find out, we eavesdropped at the Perrier-Jouet bar. Looking like an ant hill on a busy day, we think we found our answer.

It was all colors and cotton candy on the polo fields of Bridgehampton this weekend. This past Saturday, the Bridgehampton Polo Grounds was a family place, thanks to shoe boutique Stride Rite and its bevy of face painters, cotton candy machines, games from Space Odyssey USA, and bejeweled, celeb-designed gameboys. On the field, Team Black Watch duked it out against Team Pony Express, while Perrier-Joeut-fueld grown-ups divot-stomped, hobnobbed with ex-reality stars, and preened for photos atop a souped up Mercedes-Benz.

Stephanie WeiWhile Gossip Girl co-stars Chace Crawford, Penn Badgley and Blake Lively were celebrating the opening of Bridgehampton Polo and Chace Crawford’s birthday in the Hamptons this past Saturday, Ed Westwick stayed behind to relax, sun and take in his first summer in NYC. I had been out east for most of the weekend, but had to skip Chace Crawford’s birthday to return to the city. From what I’ve heard, I missed a good party, but like I always say, there’ll always be another one.

Instead, I had something much more exciting on my calendar for Sunday morning, a photo shoot for a feature in Page Six Magazine’s Fall Fashion issue. Wait, it gets better. The shoot was an exclusive with Ed Westwick!

This Saturday July 19th marked opening day of the 2008 Summer Season of the Mercedez-Benz Polo Challenge, a day not dared to be missed by Polo fanatics OR social scions. Probably one of the most quintessential things to do on summer Saturdays in the Hamptons is to attend the polo matches at the Bridgehampton Polo Club on Hayground Road.

By “attending Polo”, I’m not talking about pulling up to the field with a basket full of cold cuts and some wine coolers to enjoy while watching the games from the bleachers. I’m talking about attending Polo on the other side – the side behind the white picket fence (literally) that has that big white tent with the un-missable Mercedez-Benz emblem on it. That is known as the VIP tent, and that is where “Polo” really happens.

singer plays the stephen talkhouseAttention hipsters and indie rockettes: tonight, the Talkhouse will be filled with the freewheeling acoustic rock of the singer/songwriter Telly, and you will love him. Telly's voice is rough and slightly thin, and he tends towards winsome and hyper-enunciated ramblings. His guitar skills ground the music; they're lilting and fairly simple.

While I've yet to meet a ballad I like, the rest of Telly's originals are uniformly pleasant, and often excellent, and he has a real flair for covers. He goes on at 11; tickets are $10 at the door. Click here to sample, or buy his CD, Free Music For Sale.
