With Inauguration weekend finally upon us, our calendar page is absolutely overflowing with events to satisfy your three days of freedom. So even if you didn't snag an invite to the Obama's, check out the coolest events for the rest of us regular people in this week's edition of The Playground! More»

[More added 1/17--check the last slides] With bars open until 4am and politicos ready to party, there will be a lot going on to celebrate Obama's second Inauguration. Even if you missed out on the official ball tickets from the Presidential Inauguration Committee, there are still a lot of events you won't want to miss (in fact, most of the ones here will be better parties, period)! Balls come and go every 4 years, so pay attention to learn what's hot and what's not for 2013.

The Obamas and Bidens have been invited to basically all of the events listed here. They are only obligated to show up to the two official balls but just might pop in when you least expect them to...

The team over at BrightestYoungThings.com hosted their "Fancy Schmancy New Year's Eve Ball" on Monday night at the Former Spanish Ambassador’s Residence on 16th Street. Guests enjoyed a plethora of activities and decor, including a photobooth, confetti, costumes, lighting by DC Night Lights and balloons by Katie Balloons. On Tuesday night, Focus Features and Brightest Young Things held an advanced screening of the movie, For A Good Time Call... Held at the AFI Silver Theatre and Cultural Center in downtown Silver Spring, the screening brought out DC's movie aficionados. More»

On Saturday, Brightest Young Things once again took over the Capitol Skyline Hotel pool for their "Rave Camp" party. First thrown in 2008, this was the second edition of the popular theme party. More»
