Hollywood superstars often hope to bolster their credibility with dramatic thee-ate-er turns on Broadway. This fall, the Great White Way has glowed exceptionally bright with the megawatt smiles of Jude Law (”Hamlet”), Sienna Miller, Hugh Jackman and Daniel Craig (”A Steady Rain”). In typically offbeat fashion, Willem Dafoe has entered the fray with a role in “Idiot Savant”, a bolder, if less accessible, production playing off-Broadway at the venerable Public Theater. More»

The Times has mixed feelings about “Memoirs”, and we wonder if Chicago native David Cromer will score another hit reviving American classics, as his stunning revival of “Our Town” last year is still running Off-Broadway. It’s nice to see that, unlike Chuck, Ed Westwick appreciates “culture” as a word encompassing much more than bespoke tailoring. The British Gossip Girl actor turned out for the opening night of Hamlet on Broadway last night, as did Barbara Walters and David Hyde Pierce. The latest incantation of Shakespeare’s classic definitely appeals to the younger audience, as Jude Law plays the grieving, vengeful lead. While very much a tragedy, there’s nothing sad about getting to watch Jude live for a few hours. More»

Including special appearances by members from the cast of Broadway’s West Side Story revival, the annual benefit supported the organization’s mission of serving the cultural community and the public through research, advocacy and promotion. As the mercury continues to rise, things are also heating up on Broadway with the opening of the latest dance show, Burn The Floor, last night at the Longacre Theatre to a star-studded audience and an even hotter after-party at Providence.
