Vladimir Restoin Roitfeld hosted a party for French artist Nicolas Pol’s new exhibition, “The Martus Maw”, at 80 Essex Street. Guests included Roitfeld’s mother (and French Vogue editor) Carine Roitfeld, Mary-Kate Olsen (who must have scurried over after her Bob Saget Photo Op), Andre Balazs, Byrdie Bell, Vito Schnabel, Erin Wasson, Fabiola Beracasa, Genevieve Jones, Nur Khan, Starvos Niarchos, and The Santo Domingo Family (Lauren, Andreas, and Tatiana). Last night, the hottest room in the city played host to its hottest guests. The Boom Boom Room was booming last night. It was (yet another) celebration of the DVD release of VALENTINO: The Last Emperor, but let’s be honest, it was really just a chance to dance next to Madonna. Hosted by Giancarlo Giammetti, Director Matthew Tyrnauer, and Jesus Luz, it was the party to see and be seen at. Read who stopped by below… More»

[All photos by NICK HUNT for PMc]. It seems that Derek Blasberg tamed his French partying ways at least for a night for The Fountain House Fall Fete at The Racquet and Tennis Club at The Plaza last night.  The soiree sponsored by David Yurman and designer Michelle Smith’s line Milly celebrated The Fountain House’s services for individuals recovering from mental illnesses. Yesterday, we posted the first half of the joint interview I had with Derek Blasberg and Byrdie Bell. Today, it’s time to hear what Byrdie had to say about fashion, being starstruck, and why trying too hard is the ultimate faux pas. Read what this die hard Pisces told us….

There are simple “Do’s” and “Don’ts” of style we all know to follow during Fashion Week. Just the little things so you don’t end up on the pages of the Worst Dressed list, mocked endlessly online, or laughed at behind your back. The facts of fashion, really. But then there are the things that totally slip your mind: Sleeping, smiling, wearing your pants. The big things in life. Sound easy? Apparently it isn’t for everyone…  More»

Art Dealers Vladimir Restoin-Roitfeld and Andy Valmorbida’s after-party for their presentation of works by artist Richard Hambleton at New York City restaurant, Indochine, was so hot it caused a party-goer to faint Tuesday night, and luckily there was an Olsen twin on hand to help. No word on why the female guest actually collapsed (too much rump-shaking on the dance floor perhaps?) but according to guests, Mary-Kate Olsen assisted in reviving her before getting back to partying with a bevy of celebrities and New York City socialites also in attendance… More»

[All photos by JOE SCHILDHORN and PATRICK McMULLAN for PMc]. All ten floors of the Lord & Taylor Fifth Avenue flagship store participated in Fashion Night Out last night, but perhaps no floor was as popular as the 3rd, where Patrick McMullan and Vogue editor Lauren Santo Domingo were on hand to share style and photography tips. Attendees eager to shop (and be shot) included Byrdie Bell, Fabiola Beracasa, Francisco Costa, and Liam McMullan. More»

Last night GQ and Dior Homme hosted dinner guests including Mischa Barton, Rachel Bilson, Hayden Christiansen, Chace Crawford, Josh Hartnett, Taylor Momsen, Miranda Kerr and Byrdie Bell; gathered at the Cooper Square Hotel penthouse to honor Dior Homme Artistic Director Kris Van Assche, making his first official press appearance in the United States. The dinner was picturesque, to say the very least.

There’s nothing better than escaping the city streets come summertime for rooftop fun in the sun and the weather could not have been more perfect Tuesday night for jewelry designer David Yurman’s annual Summer Rooftop Celebration in Tribeca. derek_blasberg-104x125[Photo via Style.com] You might think what Derek Blasberg does best is galloping around town, serving as a contributer to top fashion publications like Vogue, and churning out Blasblog, his column on Style.com. But it looks like his true talent might lie in creating the latest socialite slang. After the word “jain” started popping up on Twitter accounts like @theLSD (Lauren Santo Domingo), @ByrdieBell, and @dizzyblazeberg (Derek’s own) a few months ago, just to name a few, we started to wonder what this term meant. Used in a similiar way as “fetch”, the word Gretchen Weiners tried to make desperately happen to no prevail in Mean Girls, “jain” seemed to mean cool, great, awesome, but… not quite….

Yesterday evening, PAPER Magazine celebrated “Re-Branding America,” its 2009 Design Issue. Savvy branding proficients Yigal Azrouel, Byrdie Bell, Luigi Tadini, Mickey Boardman, Matthew Modine and DJs Andrew Andrew listened to tunes while viewing an art installation focused on things America at the (appropriately) patriotic co-host Tommy Hilfiger’s West Broadway store.
