Cain Luxe Still Going Strong- Rumors NOT True…

After the death of Home and Guesthouse nightclubs on 27th street, there have been rumors today that Cain is the next club to go. Is it true?  With the success of the Surf Lodge (the Montauk hot spot that Jaime Mulholland and Jayma Cardosa opened only a year ago) and Goldbar, perhaps it was time to close down the venue that started it all? It seemed highly unlikely - the team just redid the entire space into “Cain Luxe” last spring. More »

“It’s A Sick, Sick World.” Let Cain Luxe Be Your Medicine!

We are in love with the new intro on Cain Luxe’s website.  It is insanely HOT.  With hot girls being pulled around on chaines and phrases mixed in like “Baby come away from the window i don’t want you to see it”,  “Darling, rest your head, I’ll make you a believer,” and, my favorite: “It’s a sick sick world, and we will be your medicine.” The hottest thing about this artistic intro?  Owners Jamie Mulholland, and Jayma Cardosa are in it!

Things Get Crazy At The Vibrator Release Party

Go HERE for more photos of this event by OMAR FLORES and TAG YOURSELF and  YOUR FRIENDS!

Things seemed to get a little crazy at the Vibrator Release party last week at Cain Luxe.  Beatrice Inn’s own DJ Prince Peter was there, along with She-Dick, and the Vibrator Dancers (yikes, sounds scary!)  Actually, “Vibrator” is the debut of Jasper James’, the gender-bending Brooklyn-based singer/songwriter, single.  Her large following of fans can pick up the single on iTunes.  On Wednesday, she will be celebrating in London at “Heaven.”

“Best $2k I Ever Spent!” Cracks Peeking Out At Play House

I just don’t get it.  Didn’t this trend of low riding pants end a couple of years ago? Lately, it seems that we’ve been seeing more and more cracks poking their way out into the world.  Though this young gentleman above surely has nothing to hide, doesn’t he feel a draft up his behind? Isn’t he concerned about it getting snapped by Rob?  Have you been seeing cracks around town lately too?

Photo Of The Day: Firemen Enter Cain Luxe

[No, this isn't a Halloween costume. Photo by Rob Rich]

The FDNY saved the day night last Thursday when the fire alarms unexpectedly took off on the opening night of Cain Luxe.  In the photo above, the well dressed Jamie Mulholland looks on as the firemen come to the rescue.

If you made it past Elizabeth at the door last Thursday, you were in for a real treat.  When Cain reopens as Cain Luxe…a more sophisticated version of itself, you know there are going to be fireworks sparklers.  And girls in bikinis, and men in pinstriped suits, and bottles, bottles, bottles!  In case you missed out on the fun, check out Rob Rich’s pictures in all their glory.

Fire Alarm Doesn’t Stop Party At Cain Luxe Opening

Breaking News 1:15am - The fire alarm has just gone off and all lights are on at Cain Luxe on opening night (it must have been the fog machine).  Thankfully, New York’s Bravest were there to save the day.  Brave enough to battle the clubgoers and get in there to turn off the alarms in record time so that the party could carry on.  If that isn’t doing your job well, we don’t know what is.

Update: 1:25am - The music is back on and pumping!  Another successful save from the FDNY.

Interview: Jamie Mulholland, On His Big Cain-Luxe Opening, Why This Was His Best Summer Yet, And What’s In Store For His Team

[Jamie Mulholland with Family at Surf Lodge. Photo by K. Doran for Rob Rich]

Jamie Mulholland has always managed to stay ahead of the curve.  Whether it’s turning the eastern most tip of the island into the hottest place to spend your summer, or staking out the territories of the Bahamas, and, more recently, Dubai; many just look to see what Jamie and his partner Jayma Cardosa are up to and follow suit accordingly. Goldbar has withstood the test of time in Manhattan, still managing to cater to an elite crowd of club goers, and, with the unvieling of the new Cain Luxe tonight, Jamie may be just the man needed to turn around a little block of street in Chelsea.  With flip flops on and South African accent in tow, the “Bru” gives me the scoop:

Tell me about the new Cain Luxe.  Did you look at other locations? How did you settle on staying put (on 27th street)?
Cain Luxe is a brand new concept.  Everything’s been ripped out and we have installed a top of the line sound system that you won’t find anywhere in the city.  Of course we looked at other venues, but this is such a great space.  It’s over 5,000 square feet and this area is really going through a change.  With the new Highline going up, and no police coming around like usual.  I know that the top venues on the street are staying and the others will most likely leave.  Mark my words: 27th street is going to be hot again!

Exclusive Photos Inside The New Cain Luxe!

[With Jamie Mulholland inside new Cain Luxe]

Our meeting was scheduled for 11:30 am.  I get a call.  It’s Jamie Mulholland and his South African accent: “Darling you might want to get down here as soon as possible, the doors are open and there’s some kid blogger downstairs taking photos.”

It’s hard to keep your new digs a secret, especially when Vivienne Westwood decides to host her sample sale on floor 6 above.  In any event, I got there as fast as Manhattan traffic could carry me.  It’d be redundant to talk about how online media has change all of us, but this was ridiculous!  The poor guy couldn’t even see the installation of his exquisite mohair seats being installed before he had to open his doors to me to take photos, before the other blogger vultures got there!  Talk about keeping you on your toes…

Exclusive! First Inside Cain Luxe. It’s “Paris Meets Africa” On 27th Street

[The doors outside the new Cain Luxe]

Guest of a Guest Exclusive! First inside the new Cain Luxe!

Jamie Mullholland was in flip flops today when I met with him.  He’s trying to hold on to summer as well.

Fitting for the piece I just did, as I showed him this on his computer.  It was indeed strange sitting with the charming South African in his office atop Cain, instead of the deck outside at Surf Lodge. I was there for a tour of his newest project, CAIN-LUXE, and upon seeing him, wanted to step into a time machine and go back to this day.  Before the walk through of the completely gutted space started, he sat down and answered some of my questions.  Is 27th street REALLY worth it?  Did you look elsewhere?  Well, yes of course, he did, but he also assured me that the space was too good not to redo, and, that the new Cain would set waves through the city, sound waves for starters.  Plus, 27th street is having its revival didn’t you know? (more on this later).

Jamie and his partner Jayma are giving Cain, the club which helped define 27th street, a major makeover.  Best described as “Paris meets South Africa”, the space is “art deco, it’s decadent, think mohair and brass.”
