Welcome to round two of Coachella Weekend 2012. With one weekend down and another three days of shows ahead of me, it's almost like I get a do-over and can now make educated decisions for this round of Coachella evening stage-hopping. Having this personal wisdom and experience from which to base this weekend's festival choices, I thought I'd share my humble opinion with you all for anyone who cares to know what my picks and nixes for shows to see this weekend. Weekend 2 of Coachella has much to live up to, and then some, if it wants to rev up and surprise its audiences the same way with its performances this past weekend which was packed with many positively jaw-dropping moments, from Tupac's haunting hologram to the outpouring of emotion during Gotye's performance of "Somebody That I Used To Know" with Kimbra. Among the stellar moments was the surprise appearance of Rihanna on stage with Calvin Harris to sing the living shit out of "We Found Love" and "Where Have You Been." Her emergence on stage prompted what was no doubt one of the most energetic, hyped crowds of the weekend. I mean, it had Katy Perry crowd surfing over all the raver children in the Sahara tent. While it's true that we don't always bump into famous people doing the same things we do for fun, that's mostly because the things we normally do for fun, like hunting for discount steak at Vons, don't really appeal to celebrities. In a sense, the third and final day of Coachella is the trickiest for both the schedulers and the festival-goers themselves. With two straight days of desert heat, nonstop music, killer parties, and whatever, um, extracurricular activities you may be getting into under the belt, it may feel like a challenge to maintain a third full of day of music.
