Last night, Gilt City had a carnival on the rooftop of the W Hotel that featured everything from the W's new summer cocktails to carnival games to carnival treats like corn dogs and candy apples. Bliss Spa (which has a post at the W) provided complimentary massages and nail polish changes, and everyone was going crazy for the gelato from Dolci Gelati. Models, provided by John Paul Hamilton, were dressed in hot pink duds from Lululemon Athletica. More»

Yesterday, we compared our own slate of LA Fat Tuesday parties to the madness of Mardi Gras in New Orleans, and came to the conclusion that, if we admittedly couldn't rival the bayou for sheer insanity, we were at least committed to having a good time and were trying to stay true to the spirit of the holiday without "L.A.-ifying" the whole thing. Of course, then we saw these photos of the parade and Cordão do Bola Preta in Rio de Janeiro, and we realize yet again that we're not even in the ballpark of how Brazil gets down. Check out these amazing shots and just like us, you're probably going to want to start booking your trip next year right away. More»
This Friday, as nearly 4.8 million people flock to Rio de Janeiro for Carnival (arguably the biggest party on earth) DC will be hosting a Carnival party of its own at ShadowRoom.
Shadow will be decked out and decorated in a Brazilian theme, complete with dancers fully bedazzled with traditional Carnival costumes, and featuring delicious Brazilian drinks and cocktails. Friday promises to continue ShadowRoom's streak of wild parties.
This weekend, The Times ran a piece about the so-called new club kids. The account seeks to hold in amber the current movers-and-shakers of New York nightlife and attributes the reemergence of these die-hards to the failing economy. But the dangerous juxtaposition may not be as smooth as it first seems. More»
On the cusp of its bacchanalian Carnival, Rio's mayor is cracking down on all the fun that made the city's beaches an international destination. A coastline devoid of food vendors and volleyball (and with new port-a-potties!) seems incomplete. But, no, I'll still say it beats blizzardy New York right now. More»
Last night, Bowlmor Lanes opened Carnival, its club within a club. Paris Hilton acted as the grand hostess, sporting a turquoise and purple leopard print wrap dress and miles of fake eye lashes, obviously, with sometime fiance Doug Reinhardt in tow. With clowns, a dunk tank, men on stilts and best of all, alcoholic cotton candy (genius!), this was the bowling alley visit jacked up several notches. Ms. Hilton took in the atmosphere with guests including Bai Ling, also sporting some pretty fierce threads. The two tried their hand at the strength machine, cuddled with a monkey hopping around the party and battled at games for stuffed animal prizes. You can find anything in NYC. If this isn't a nice little surprise tucked just southwest of Union Square, well then we don't know what else the city can do to keep us on our toes. More»
