Last night, Christie's was filled with celebrities, art enthusiasts, and philanthropists who took part in the Inaugural Oceana Ball. Guests including Oceana Ambassador Kate Walsh, Chris Hemsworth and Elsa Pataky, and Adrian Grenier arrived on an event-appropriate blue carpet before heading into the JW Marriott Lounge for custom Grey Goose cocktails. After the auction, officiated by Lydia Fenet of Christie's, Olivia Cipolla sang for the crowd to set off the after-party. Check out more photos from the party below. More»
As great as volunteering is, sometimes a little selfish motivation is needed to kick start our do-gooder efforts. The chance to brush elbows with a who's who list of famous New Yorkers may be all the incentive you need to finally start those weekly soup kitchen visits you promised yourself you'd do in 2013. To make your philanthropic efforts easier, we've rounded up our favorite, celebrity-endorsed, NYC charities, as well as tips on how you can start getting involved. With a star-studded list and straightforward steps to getting started, there is no excuse not to start giving back this spring.
On Saturday, the city’s most well-heeled philanthropists (who weren't at the NYJL Winter Ball) gathered at Guastavino's for Hark Society's first Emerald Gala. Manhattan City Music Band kicked off the night's festivities and DJ Matt Winter & DJ Natalie Dodge spun until 2am. The black-tie gala celebrated Hark Society's official launch to the New York social scene, and benefited PASE (Partnership for After School Education). The best dressed guests at the gala came in threes this year, so take a look at some of our top picks.
Dress codes for events can often be unclear and stressful. For tomorrow night's UNICEF Snowflake Ball, take a cue from last year's celebrity attendees if you're still unsure about what to wear. While Uma Thurman kept it sleek and simple in an emerald calf-skimming number, Sarah Jessica Parker opted for full ostrich feathers in a Louis Vuitton ensemble. Take a look at these outfits from the 2011 UNICEF Snowflake Ball and maybe choosing an outfit for tomorrow (or any winter gala) will be a little easier. We'll see you at Cipriani's 42nd street!
