Rufus Wainwright sings, “I can’t give you anything but love, baby.” However, Monday night he gave his vocal talent to an event for The Ali Forney Center a homeless shelter for LGBT youth. A Place at the Table held at the Chelsea Art Museum included guests Mayor Michael Bloomberg, Sandra Bernard, Penny Arcade, and Council Speaker Christine Quinn who was being honored for her work with the LGBT community. This might be the “Year Without A Summer” (as Gawker says), but despite all the rainy days, grayness, and generally shitty weather conditions, a collection of a few hundred twenty-and thirty-somethings gathered at the Chelsea Art Museum to celebrate the Summer Solstice. More»

[Everard Findlay, Hanna, Darren Ellis, Pleot Barriol. All photos by JACKIE SNOW for PMc] We’re not sure if Stephen Sprouse would have selected 1Oak for LE BOOK’s after party of it’s latest show, but that’s where it was held last night regardless. LE BOOK, an international reference used by the creative industry (we swear it’s more interesting than it sounds), was shown at the Chelsea Art Museum last night by invitation only, with attendees changing venues to continue the party. NYC’s young professional turned up at the Chelsea Art Museum Friday night as The Millennial Society of The Samuel Waxman Cancer Research Foundation hosted its 3rd annual Spring for a Cure benefit — a function aimed at developing a cure for the deadly disease. For $100, guests listened to the tunes of up-and-coming DJs, snacked on free food and drinks, and even mingled with Real Housewife of NYC Bethenny Frankel, Gossip Girl’s Connor Paolo, Yin Chang, Zuzanna Szadkowsi (everyone’s favorite Upper East Side maid), and Samuel Waxman. Last Friday, the Young Associates of The Chelsea Art Museum partied at the Fall ‘08 “YA Party” at the museum. The “YA” is targeted at recent graduates and young professionals who would like the opportunity to learn more about art in the intimate atmosphere found at a smaller museum like the Chelsea Art Museum. Go HERE for information about joining this organization in time for their winter party, because you need other options for meeting Mr./Mrs. Right than the bars in Murray Hill. Or, take it from the DJ there named “Friends with Benefits”, and find exactly that.

[Izzy Gold with Leven Rambin]
Remember Izzy Gold? (Pictured above with our girl Leven) This summer we became somewhat obsessed with the man after seeing his shit splattered all over the Blue and Cream in the Hamptons, the LES, and Olivia Palermo. We have since kind of lost touch with all things Gold, and feel almost bad about not being the ones that were FIRST to post on his collaboration with Ally Hilfiger for her “multimedia installation” at the Chelsea Art Museum. Ally, who touches on her father’s support for NYMag holds a firm belief that you can explore all your creative aspects, saying: “I produce films, I paint, I’ve helped my father design clothes since I was 11 years old.” and that “Our generation is into more of a multithing. It’s kind of like we’re our parents generation, but with ADD.”
If you care to see the collaborative efforts of these two youthful enthusiasts, it will be on display tomorrow night at the museum. Izzy Gold aka Francesco Chivetta, describes his work as “Warhol-esque Lichtenstein with a slight case of Basquiat.” Hmmm…trite, and hubristic, doncha think? Oh, and FYI our writing style at guestofaguest can be best described as Kerouac-esque William F. Borroughs with a smidgen of Choire Sicha.
