DBTH Behind The Curve (Again)

Back in the beginning of OCTOBER (!) Grub Street ran a post anointing Chloe as the new Beatrice Inn, “borrowing” from our piece titled “Where the Cool Kids are” days before.  We revisited the issue on January 9th when we sent a photographer into the “Ivy at Chloe” party in a post titled: “Is This REALLY The New Beatrice Inn?“  Which is why, we thought it was pretty funny when today, on DBTH, Scott put up a post titled “Battle Royale: Chloe vs. Beatrice” defending all things Bea.  (I saw him there last Friday night on the front couch and, we hear, this is one of the ONLY places he goes these days).  The first commenter asks Scott: “Why are you so obsessed with posting about this place?”

Our verdict?

Chloe Is The New Beatrice Inn

Chloe, in the original Greek ????, means “Blooming”.  A fitting name for the LES’s newest secret spot that Daniel Maurer just wrote about, calling her “The First Good Nightlife Thing In A While“.  In his post on Grub Street, he anoints Chloe as the “New Beatrice Inn”.  This sounds strikingly similar to the blurb I wrote about Chloe days before in our “New York Is Not Dead” piece in which we told you where the cool kids were:

Chloe. This little gem is flying under radar from most of the online world, though it’s creating a lot of buzz amongst the very hippest of our Guests.  It’s below the French restaurant Casanis at 81 Ludlow (@Broome).  Shecky’s deems it a “worthy substitute for the crowd displaced by the revamping of Bella’s at Bar Martignetti’s” but we hear it’s the Beatrice Inn regulars that have OD’d on Bea who are sprouting up at Chloe. Go now before it catches on and before you know it, she shows up.

New York Is NOT Dead. Where The Cool Kids Are…

New York Nightlife Dead?? I don’t think so!  And, I spent the better half of my afternoon yesterday on a mission to prove the naysayers wrong.  I presented one of my favorites, Blue Ribbon, and now you all deserve to know where the coolest people (for lack of a better word) are hanging out after hours. So, I asked A Rising PR, A Nightlife Columnist, A G9 Connoisseur, A Dapper Business Man With a Penchant for Expensive Things and Beautiful Women,The REAL Izzy Gold, An Indie Worshiper of Rock, A Creative Jeweler,  A Couple of Trust Funders “In Transition”, Two Party Starting DJ’s, A Paid “Predictor of Trends”, A Venture Capitalist, A Cool Cravat Cat, and A Hipster Magazine Editor where their favorite night spots were (excluding the known Beatrice Inn, The Box, 1Oak, Martignettis, Rose Bar, Gold Bar, The Eldridge, Bowery Hotel, etc.), and here is what they came up with:

Apotheke
The newest hot spot, in the rising Chinatown neighborhood, has hit JACKPOT.  This place came up on almost everyone’s list.  And why not? Who wouldn’t love a nice absinthe cocktail after a tough day of being cool? More »

The Wei: My Page Six Magazine Photo Shoot With Ed Westwick

Stephanie WeiWhile Gossip Girl co-stars Chace Crawford, Penn Badgley and Blake Lively were celebrating the opening of Bridgehampton Polo and Chace Crawford’s birthday in the Hamptons this past Saturday, Ed Westwick stayed behind to relax, sun and take in his first summer in NYC. I had been out east for most of the weekend, but had to skip Chace Crawford’s birthday to return to the city. From what I’ve heard, I missed a good party, but like I always say, there’ll always be another one.

Instead, I had something much more exciting on my calendar for Sunday morning, a photo shoot for a feature in Page Six Magazine’s Fall Fashion issue. Wait, it gets better. The shoot was an exclusive with Ed Westwick!
