The importance of a good weave was duly noted last night in Chris Rock’s film, “Good Hair.” Inspired by his daughter when she asked “Daddy, how come I don’t have good hair?” Rock decided to delve into the black cultural phenomenon of the importance of “good hair.”  Following the screening at the IFC Center hosted by The Cinema Society and TargetAdrien Grenier, Amber Rose, Rachel Zoe, Fern Mallis, Andrew Saffir, Andrew Bevan, Laura Brown, Jessica Joffe, Genevieve Jones, Joey Jalleo, Jennifer Missoni, Nia Long, Lenny Kravitz, Zoe Kravitz, and Ice T headed over to The Standard for the after party. Community leader, political activist, and nationally celebrated author, Kevin Powell, held his highly anticipated fundraiser last night at Eugene’s on 24 Street in Manhattan. This event supported Kevin’s bid for Congress in Brooklyn’s 10th Congressional District and raised over 75k.

This Wednesday brought out a crowd of 700 including celebrities, local Brooklyn and Manhattan residents, politicians and a slew of media supporters and inquirers. The event consisted of 3 plus hours of non-stop music and politicking with music provided by Celebrity DJ and Philanthropist, Beverly Bond, along with DJ Reborn. More»
