Cipriani’s Upstairs. It was the spot of GofG’s first party post ever (when we caught a certain famous Mortimer flashing our camera’s way back in May of ‘07). This downtown institution has had its fair share of drama, but there’s no denying that it has managed to stand the test of time, its Sunday night karoke parties are still one of the hottest games in town. So why are they closing their doors this Sunday?! More»

Last night, El Museo held a gala at Cipriani 42nd Street to raise operating funds for exhibitions and arts education programs within the Latino communities of New York City. This year’s honorees were Luis Ubinas, the President of the Ford Foundation, and Emilio and Gloria Estefan. The event was co-chaired by Yaz Hernandez and Ruben and Isabel Toledo. The event consisted of cocktails and dinner, after which guests were invited to dance, and by the looks of our photos, dance they did…. More»

If the shoe fits, you should probably still not wear it. That is, if the shoe in question is one of the ones featured at the FIT Benefit Gala at Cipriani 42nd street. Those boots, or rather, pumps, were not made for walking, and were instead encased, studded, and beautifully ornamented. Each one was made to represent different areas around New York such as Harlem, Central Park, The New York Public Library, etc. While you couldn’t try them on for size, you could vote for your favorite design. [Doormen Maurizio Ferrigno, Armin Amiri, and Wass Stevens all star in The Wrestler]

We can’t help but find Mickey Rourke lovable.  Maybe its because he was such a misfit in the past, or because he still loves to rip it up on the town at 1 Oak and Cipriani Sundays, or perhaps it’s that he has risen from the ashes like a Phoenix.  Or maybe it’s because he hooked up his nightlife friends (and NYC resident doormen) with parts in The Wrestler.  This isn’t to say these guys wouldn’t have made it on their talent, but it sure doesn’t hurt to get a good referral from Mickey (and he has certainly logged in his time with these guys over the years!)

A quick recap on the doormen, the clubs they work at, and the parts they played: More»

Sir Martin Sorrell, Rufus Wainwright, Ken LoweAll forms of media may be having a tough time lately, but we are glad to see that The Paley Center for Media (what used to be  the Museum of Television and Radio) is looking out for us. Last night, at the Cipriani on 42nd Street, their annual gala took place. The guests of honor were Ken Lowe and Sir Martin Sorrell (known for their ground breaking leadership in media) and Rufus Wainwright performed. The event will help with The Paley Center’s ongoing efforts to increase the public’s understanding of the media and its growing significance in today’s society through public and industry programs.

Last night, UJA Federation of New York hosted its signature Generosity event, a party for young, philanthropically inclined Jewish singles. Cipriani Wall St. played hosted to hundreds of single ladies and gents in their 20s and 30s, gathered together for a night of cocktails and dancing. One of the most distinctive features of the event was its spin on the theme “Generosity Is Sweet”, which manifested itself in candy dispensers, make-your-own-sundaes, cotton candy, fondue, cupcakes, and more.  If the availability of proverbial eye candy proved a disappointment, the desserts still stretched as far as the eye could see.

Scott is making our heads spin with all of the parties they’ve been hitting up. We don”t know how they do it, but just two of their nights is like a month”s worth of excitement:

Wednesday found us all dressed up with too many places to go. So we decided to miss the Out Party and headed straight to the Conde Nast Traveller Awards party at the New York Public Library on Fifth Avenue. Their parties are always over the top and this one was no exception. We met up with our friends Melanie Weitzner of Rubenstein PR and Hugo Boss”s Ward Simmons, and made the rounds. Others at the party included Brad Leinhardt, Douglas Marshall, Sue Shin, Michelle Jimenez, Devorah Rose, Andrew McCarthy, Eric Mabius, Matthew Settle, Mario Cantone and Tom Filicia.

As we stepped out we ran into our friend Aubrey O”day. Aubrey was recently let go from Dannity Kane and we say congratulations. Who even knows anybody else from Dannity Kane?
