The annual CMJ Festival came and went in a haze of indie bands, dudes with facial hair, late nights and cans of PBR. With over 1,200 bands over five days and venues spread throughout the city, it would be overwhelming to see every band you wanted, if not impossible.  More»

A big, family style dim sum restaurant is where most people go to eat away their hangovers. There's no better fix for the the bleary-eyed masses than chicken feet wheeled straight out to their Lazy Susan-adorned tables. But in a brilliant business move, the folks down at Chinatown dim sum banquet hall 88 Palace have decided to not only cure hungover misery, but to cause it. More»

Yesterday, Billy put together this handy dandy post for you novices out there who would might need a CMJ 101 class. Today, I noticed the insane amount of Twitter activity coming from #CMJ lovers. Music and tech geeks sometimes seem to be clones of each other (both tend to take on hipster diets), so it's no surprise that this festival would have a prominent number of tweeters and bloggers chronicling it.  Click below for some of the more prolific twitter accounts to follow if you are looking for up to date info on the shows.. The Bowery paving construction10:30pm @ BOWERY and Kenmare

No we aren't talking about a Wizard of Oz metaphor for an antiquated gold standard debate.  Rather, a metaphor for what has now become the hipster haven of Manhattan, the Bowery.  And soon it will have brand new streets, free of potholes, and ready for people to jet down to places like the Bowery Hotel.

In the midst of CMJ Music Festival Craziness, the city has decided it was the perfect time to dive into this massive construction and paving work on the Bowery.  And there you have it, The Bowery is currently closed from Houston Street all the way to Delancey.
