We know we haven't always been all that nice to Coldplay in the past. They're a big, broad band that always goes for the emotional kill shot, and we'll absolutely concede that, at times, we've found ourselves annoyed with them. But we also believe that these things are largely a matter of context, and so after they played their second of three shows at the Hollywood Bowl last night, a dazzling, special effects laden tour de force that left pretty much every attendee breathless, we'll happily admit that Coldplay was pretty much born to rock the Bowl in a way that few bands can these days. We suspect that after you see these choice Instagrams from last night's show, you'll agree. More»
The next time you hear some non-Angeleno say L.A. lacks any real culture, ask them if the KROQ Weenie Roast has ever come to wherever they're from or the last time The Weeknd played a show at sunset in a cemetery where famous people like Bugsy Siegel, two of the Ramones, Jayne Mansfield and George Harrison have been laid to rest. It may not feel like L.A.'s five-month-long shorts and sandals pool party season outside yet, but the summer of live music is already going strong with the aforementioned concerts and more, all of which we bring you in this handy guide to L.A.'s top shows to see this week. We've been trying to tell you this for weeks, but the Summer Of Live Music isn't going to be stopping any time soon. Nope, with yet another week of unique shows from big names, old favorites and dynamic new groups, it looks like you're not getting any rest before Labor Day. But trust us, this is nothing to complain about, especially with only-in-L.A. gems like The Weeknd on the Hollywood Forever Cemetery lawn on the radar. So whatever else you might be up to this week, make sure you leave time to Go See A Show! More»

Everyone loves music. It is one of the only (naturally occurring) things in the world scientifically proven to affect mood, the audibly consumable drug. Festivals in the U.S. have come a long way since the famed days of acid trips and free love at Woodstock '69 and more still since the corporate greed and flash rioting of Woodstock '99. Between plane tickets, camping permits, and hotel rooms, music festivals now-a-days can get expensive very quickly. Prep beforehand with our guide to ten upcoming festivals across the globe. More»
I don't think I was alone in thinking last night's Grammys would be turned into a 3 hour tribute to the late and great Whitney Houston-but alas, we were wrong. It did, however, have Taylor Swift auditioning for the Oklahoma production of West Side Story, Chris Brown, the still-brilliant voice of Adele, a creepily silent Lady Gaga (yes, she was there), Bonnie Bear, more Chris Brown, the French 808 known as David Guetta, and the artist formerly known as Nicki Minaj. Oh, and it was hosted by L.L. Cool J. Here's a recap of the bizarre acid-trip brought to you by CBS. More»
From Kanye West, or Yeezy World Peace, playing DJ in the bright lights of Vegas, to Kate Moss and Terry Richardson hanging on the beaches of Jamaica, and Kaskade spinning a TWELVE hour set at Marquee, party-goers across the globe rang in 2012 like it was the end of days. Oh wait, it is. More»

Last night marked one of the highlights of every fall season, the annual American Museum of Natural History Gala, held at the American Museum of Natural History, itself. The evening began with cocktails in the Theodore Roosevelt Rotunda followed by dinner, dancing, and a live performance by Coldplay in the Milstein Hall of Ocean Life with a fabulous live auction of extraordinary and priceless items.
