Thank heaven you guys hate taking the night off, because, as we tell you every week, there are ever fewer opportunities to do so as the Summer Of Live Music rolls onwards. This week, we bring you moody new wave soundscapes at everyone's favorite cemetery/performance space, classic subversive funk-metal, soulful acoustic guitar, and even one very angry, very large white rapper. Simply put, no matter what genres you are, or aren't, into, you're in for a treat this week, so why not make tonight the night that you Go See A Show? More»
So, who saw some great live music this Memorial Day weekend? There was certainly plenty to choose from, and if you stayed in town (or even if you jaunted off to Vegas), the odds are you couldn't help but drunkenly stumble into some sort of street festival, live performance pool party, or whatever the hell combination of those two things Summertramp was. But, as we always tell you in this space, we really hope you didn't completely exhaust yourself grooving down with The Roots or fist-pumping in Nevada, because the next seven days of live music in L.A. are going to hit hard. We're talking everything from one of the feuding-est arena rock bands of all time (no, not you, Oasis) to Basque-influenced folktronica to a three-night stand at the El Rey for an ever-controversial hipster princess. So drop what you're doing and Go See A Show!

So Tuesday's not even over yet, and you've already got your eyes on the weekend, don't you? I mean, who could blame you? 3-day weekends are worth their weight in gold, and even by our standards, this one is packed full of enough kick-ass live music for you to really make a mini-vacation of it. But trust us when we tell you that before we even hit Memorial Day, there's a whole load of amazing bands, shows and events rolling through our fair city this week. So what are you waiting for? Today's the day to Go See A Show! More»
The next time you hear some non-Angeleno say L.A. lacks any real culture, ask them if the KROQ Weenie Roast has ever come to wherever they're from or the last time The Weeknd played a show at sunset in a cemetery where famous people like Bugsy Siegel, two of the Ramones, Jayne Mansfield and George Harrison have been laid to rest. It may not feel like L.A.'s five-month-long shorts and sandals pool party season outside yet, but the summer of live music is already going strong with the aforementioned concerts and more, all of which we bring you in this handy guide to L.A.'s top shows to see this week. We've been trying to tell you this for weeks, but the Summer Of Live Music isn't going to be stopping any time soon. Nope, with yet another week of unique shows from big names, old favorites and dynamic new groups, it looks like you're not getting any rest before Labor Day. But trust us, this is nothing to complain about, especially with only-in-L.A. gems like The Weeknd on the Hollywood Forever Cemetery lawn on the radar. So whatever else you might be up to this week, make sure you leave time to Go See A Show! More»
So now that we've regained our "better weather than the East Coast" title (with the exception of some very funky wind), there's a lot of activities competing for your attention: al fresco dining, trips to the beach, cancelled Beerathons, and whatnot. But as the upcoming slate of pre-'Coachella concerts in and around L.A. proves, you'd be wise to leave plenty of time in your schedule for your weekly dose of kick ass live music. So what are you waiting for? Go see a show! More»
So all your friends went off to Sundance to party with movie stars and alcoholic babies, and you're still here in L.A.? Maybe you're a little jealous, because it seems like every night they're checking out some big name like Drake, playing for free? Don't sweat it, because there's actually a lot of great live music happening right here in town this week, including plenty of artists that give ol' Wiz Khalifa a run for his money. So instead of sitting at home feeling left out, Go See A Show!! [L.A. punk legends X play the MOCA on Friday, photo via] More»
After the holiday season with all of its random bustle, early January is all about getting back on track and re-setting the routines that let you live a normal life. This is, of course, why so many people try to re-start a diet or exercise regimen, but since both of those things aren't, y'know, fun, they tend to be hard to stick to. So why not start a new routine, one where you take weekly advantage of the incredible depth and diversity of live music available in Southern California? Welcome to the first 2012 weekly edition of "Go See A Show!" Here are the shows around around town you need to know about this week... More»
L.A. is one of the best places in the world to see live music of all kinds. Sure, there's a NYC authenticity that can only come from being stuffed into a sweaty basement that smells like stale cigarette smoke and urine, but give me the Hollywood Bowl any day. So, I humbly present "Go See A Show!", my not-at-all expert guide to the upcoming shows in and around L.A. that I'm planning to (or would love to) check out in the next two weeks. More»
