Dim Mak Tuesdays

As every website publishes their "Year In Review" posts, it's going to really seem like 2011 sucked. And between natural disasters and Republican Primary season (which technically hasn't even started yet), I can understand feeling that way. But it wasn't all bad, people. In fact, 2011 in Los Angeles was packed full of killer parties, crazy shows, and a never-ending stream of bizarre fashion that we faithfully captured for you every morning. More»

Have you gotten down with the dubstep movement at Dim Mak Studios yet? What was once and for many years an underground music style has exploded onto the mainstream in the last year in a big way. Like, even Britney did dubstep. We get it, it's kinda like a funkified techno with a heavier bass and probably sounds really cool when you're on drugs. Not that we'd know what that's like or anything, just if we had to guess. More»

All good things must come to an end, and after eight years of being one of the top dance party/DJ set venues, we had to say goodbye this week to Cinespace at its last Dim Mak Tuesdays. More»

Because there's no place on Earth they'd rather live, our beloved colleagues at GofG NY were delighted to brave the frozen rain and single-digit temperatures earlier this week in order to attend Calvin Klein's boyfriend's 21st birthday party. The party looks like it was pretty fun. The pictures of the happy couple are as traumatizing as you would probably suspect. More»

For those of you who thought it was the lyrics to a Muppets song, the 'Dim Mak' from 'Dim Mak Tuesdays' actually represents the ancient and feared 'touch of death' martial arts technique. While we're not saying Steve Aoki can kill you with a single touch, we're not about to challenge the guy to hand-to-hand combat, either. And it seems he's been using his weekly party as a training dojo, teaching deadly techniques to the crowd. We sent an undercover operative to investigate... More»

As everyone in L.A. made aware to the world, our normally picture perfect paradise was slightly more apocalyptic this week. The good news is it didn't stop our bravest ragers from rocking out with enthusiasm. The bad news? Los Angelites haven't a clue how to dress for "weather." More»

Tomorrow is Thanksgiving. That means most of you are in the process of braving the nudie photobooths at airport security or the not-as-bad-as-NYC traffic to escape back to wherever you came from. You're tired. You're probably cold. And tonight, you'll get hammered with people you haven't seen in years. So, with the help of some sweet photos from Steve Aoki's birthday bash at Cinespace last night (just to prove that there's plenty of fun to be had if you're sticking around), let's go over a few Do's and Don'ts for the hometown party scene. Last night, the weekly Dim Mak Tuesdays party at Cinespace played host to an after party for Maximum Balloon's album release event and featured DJ sets by the guest of honor and MC stylings of Theophilus London. More»

Dim Mak Tuesdays strikes again! Fans of the weekly party at Cinespace were treated to a night of live music by Iceland's Steed Lord, plus DJ sets by Them Jeans, Dan Oh, and DJ Huggs. Despite the fun times people were having on the dance floor, these kids seem jaded by the whole club scene. More»

You can never go wrong with a Dim Mak party, especially if Diplo and his Mad Decent crew are involved AND it's Mark "The Cobrasnake" Hunter's birthday. More»
