Each Fashion Week, a certain dance occurs, both for the city's brightest young things and for its hottest new places to carry them into the morning. Status this week has little to do with your front row fashion seat (at least not anymore), and a lot to do with which high end after-party you are spotted attending, and where its being held.  And, while this season there's been no one clear winner for "new it-spot," (Le Baron was an anticipated fav, though that has been stalled--and, after last night's Zspoke party, it's clearly still tough to beat the Boom Boom), there is a new player hitting the city's FW party circuit: meet Mister H. in the Mondrian Hotel. via guestofaguest.com What good does it do to sit at home and mourn the loss of our beloved Bungalow 8? As demonstrated by ex-Bungalow doorman, Disco, the answer is none. Travertine, a restaurant that opened on Kenmare street and Bowery (only one block away from our offices) last fall, managed to fly under our radar even despite the out-of-place modern marble walls that seemed to scream at us for attention every time we walked by. The one dinner I shared there (out of convenience in location) failed to hook me. Travertine lacked the "I guess I'll put on eye makeup" crowd of the hot spot Kenmare (across the street and one block down), and the "I'm so addicted I'll stand in line for" food of the Banh Mi gods down on Broome. We all have a favorite Polish joke (submarine with a screen door, anyone?). But starting tomorrow, Polacks will annex visit NYC for the 10-day Unsound Festival. Wikipedia has gotten some heat lately for publishing the "answers" to the Rorschach blot test, which psychiatrists have been administering to patients for over 90 years. Bad news for analysts, great news for us! After reading the Wikipedia page, we at Guest of a Guest feel fairly confident we can accurately analyze your social life, thus saving you thousands of dollars a year in therapy!

So go ahead, tell us: What does the image at left make you think of?

[Disco gards the door at Bungalow. Photo by NYMag]

Today's NY Magazine includes the "Say-Up-Till-Dawn Nightlife Planner" inside of it.  This is the photo for the section titled "Top Five Doors Worth The Hassle. The velvet ropes are justified here".  It is our good friend Disco holding down the fort outside of our beloved Bungalow 8.  However, there is an immediate and obvious problem with this choice of photo....Bungalow isn't included on the list that follows it (205 Club, Beatrice Inn, Goldbar, Rose Bar, and Socialista are).  Disco's door is perhaps the most obvious and recognized one, so maybe it is fitting to use as the main photo, it would just be nice to see the place return on the list.  Are our revival efforts futile?

Alas, for future reading, check out the magazine and read their picks for best bars around the city.  Go HERE for ours.
