Exploring places beyond one's designated comfort zone can be particularly daunting for Angelenos. For some people, it's a chronic case of AWOL (Always West of Lincoln); for others, leaving and entering the valley presents an emotional challenge. Flea, Anthony Kiedis [via]
Like Iggy Pop before them, Anthony Kiedis and Flea are two of the only dudes on earth approaching 50 who can still rock with their shirts off without offending people AND look cool doing it. On Saturday, while many were getting in touch with their teenage selves at L.A. The event will be held from 7-9pm at the hotel's open-air rooftop lounge, High, (their restaurant is called Hash, get it?), More»
Yesterday evening, a bomb scare in Dogtown was thankfully just a false alarm. The usually peaceful streets that run along the boardwalk and are sprinkled with skaters, surfer dudes and beach bums were shut down around Market Street over a suspicious package. More»
Venice is home to many a skater. The cult of skate there pervades the landscape and culture and for many locals, skating their main mode of transportation. You might even call it a way of life. More»
Its proprietors wear thick flannels, stiff overalls, rolled-up jeans, and leather moccasin boots. Its supporters sport tatted sleeves, boho vintage frocks, ratty beanies, Ugg boots, board shorts, greying dreads and dog collars (think actual canines). Oh yeah, and Ben Harper likes to stop by and Jackson Browne got up to jam recently. So there’s that.- More»
