Breaking After Entering At Dune Southampton

via hamptons.guestofaguest.com: Don’t forget about all of the action over on our Hamptons site.  Today’s “Best $2k” is quite the doozy.  A reader sent in some photos of their friends tearing down Dune nightclub…literally.  This guy on the left is holding the evidence: the famous rope that he was just a little bit to heavy to swing from. He came crashing down with the rope in his hand (and his dignity left on the dance floor?)

Check out all of the debauchery from this evening at Dune. MORE>>>

A Twitterific Breakdown Of NYC Prep From A Real One, Ariel Moses: Round 6

NYC Prep, Episode 6: “Guests Of Guests”

The writers over at NYC Prep must have realized that they needed to be really careful with the title of the show this week. One slip of an extra “a”, lack of an “s” here and there, and they could have a potential lawsuit on their hands- I don’t care how many times it came out of Jessie’s mouth, but “Guest Of A Guest”, sometimes they do have guests… apparently not PC though… More »

A Twitterific Breakdown Of NYC Prep From A REAL One, Ariel Moses: Round 5

NYC Prep, Episode 5: “The Overachievers”

Wondering why Ariel Moses’ much awaited Twitterfic Round-up is a day late? No, she wasn’t out partying it up with Kelli and PC again, but it’s because everyone here (and across the country it seems), has caught a bad case of Gohan fever. Yes, that’s right - Jon Gosselin and Michael Lohan’s bromance made me put Ariel’s NYC Prep’s tweets on the backburner for a day, and boy are we feeling the backlash. More »

“The Best Guests Come Bearing Gifts…” A Disco Pool!

A disco pool! Defying rumor, the nightlife this summer is going strong. Between AXE, Day & Night, the Georgica and The Gates; club kids are busy as ever. Sadly, not everyone can pass the velvet rope. Well, now we can bring the club to you! This dome-shaped, underwater light show illuminates an entire pool or tub with a multi-colored, changing display. The best thing: it costs less than a drink! Yes, let’s take a minute to think about that…look out for Club Stanley, coming soon!

“Best $20k I Ever Spent!” The Gold Bottle Of Armand de Brignac At Marquee

What recession?!  An anonymous clubgoer bought this $20k bottle of Armand de Brignac champagne at Marquee last week!! Here is a picture of the bottle; it’s 6 liters and was the first of a limited edition of 30 to be sold in the US. The bottle is so big it’s covering the mysterious moneybags who bought it.  So….in case you’re wondering, here’s what $20,000 can buy you outside of Marquee:

Pricetag On Olympic Opening Ceremony Tickets Make Dune’s $2K Look Like Chump Change

Olympic tickets

And you thought paying $2K at Dune was a bit overpriced? Try scouting for tickets for the Olympic Games Opening Ceremony in Bejing. I need to find some. I have put an ad up on craigslist and asmallworld.net, I have also gone to sites such as the one above. I have no idea where section CAT A is but for the $30,500.00 price tag it better be shoulder to shoulder with President Hu Jintao.

Chace Crawford Surprisingly Makes His Own Birthday Party At Dune

Chace Crawford at DuneFrom: hamptons.guestofaguest.com

Chace Crawford actually DID show up for his own bday party at DUNE on Saturday! After a long hot day of Polo, Chace, along with most of the cast of Gossip Girl, including Lydia Hearst (seated next to him in purple) who recently had a cameo appearance, were more than well taken care of at DUNE. If I know one thing for sure, it’s that Rich and Tamie know how to play host. From the photo above, Chace was having quite the 23rd birthday!

Is Lily Pond Heating Up?

From hamptons.guestofaguest.com:

Cheryl Kuzmawich and Dave Krasnofm seem to think so…

The helicopter-landing equipped newbie has been duking it out with the more established nightspots (Dune, Pink Elephant), and fellow fledgling La Playa.

From our Inbox

Thought we would share this with you guys, an accurate summation of events this weekend. Bold added for emphasis.

Subject: Memorial Day Weekend

Friday night went to Dune in Southampton, it was packed but crowd was weak. Sat night we went to Pink Elephant, it wasn’t too crowded and was really fun…lots of girls around…Usual promoters and Euro trash rich guys around….There are 5 tables outside on the elevated patio (not the outdoor area with the beds) that were really good and we stayed out there most of the night….

Sun night went to back to Dune and it was embarrasingly bad. Jayma[Cardosa] wasn’t there (only Rich Thomas). Didn’t see Noah Tepperberg either. All the tables were empty or filled with long island meathead trash….That being said Sunday after Mem Day is a tough one….Decor looks the same as last year with some cheap looking plastic fish hanging from the ceiling. I wasn’t impressed, thought Cain last year looked a lot better. They were serving drinks in plastic cups which also annoyed me. We left after 5 mintes and went to Nello’s which was very cool on the inside. An older crowd but a great place for drinks.

Didn’t get a chance to check out Stereo but Ambrosia and Adriana Lima were supposedly having a party there Sat….

Get to know your Door(wo)man

If only the Newsday had told you what to do at this time last year, maybe you wouldn’t have gotten rejected so many damn times. We highly recommend heading their advice:

1. Don’t name drop the name Rachel Uchitel to Rachel Uchitel at the door of Dune: Her favorite line is “Rachel told me to come by.” “Dude,” she says, “I’m Rachel, and that’s the most idiotic thing you can say.”

2. Don’t roll up with six guys (must keep a good ratio!), or ask Michealangelo L’Acqua at Dune if he knows who your daddy is:“If you roll up with six guys, chances are I won’t let you in unless you’re willing to spend money for a table. I don’t like baseball caps or fraternity looks. For girls, I like it light and beachy, not a lot of makeup.” L’Acqua’s least favorite gambit: “Do you know who my dad is?

3. Just be “cool” and Binn Jakupi will let you in the door at Stereo: “People will say, ‘I’m Domenico Dolce’s cousin. I own this hotel,’” he says. “I don’t care what you own. If someone is cool and I want to take care of them, I take care of them.”

4. Don’t ask Alexander Julian at the door of Pink Elephant if he knows who you are, and for God’s sake don’t wear flip flops: Julian’s least favorite opener is “Do you know who I am?” “If you’re poorly dressed in flip-flops and khakis,” says the straight shooter at Pink Elephant, “you’re not getting in.”

5. Bring your “elegant casual” game to Bey Archer if you want in at Starroom: he doesn’t ban flip-flops. Archer says he’s looking for “elegant casual.”

A couple of mixed messages here, I’m starting to get confused. Flip-flops are ok here, then not okay there. These doormen are begginning to sound like the uber flip-flop: John Kerry. Man if only we could just be “cool”.

Hamptons Tag-Team Summer 2007

Looks like it’s going to be a sizzling hot summer….

We haven’t completley sussed out the situation yet, and it can be expected to continue to develop over the next couple of weeks, however, it appears that some very interesting nightclub players have teamed up to compete for the polo-jetset Hamptons crowd this summer. These types of match-ups have yet to be seen out in the East End or Manhattan for that matter. The winner of course will get it, and the losers will be left shoving bottles down the throats of the B & T/Staten Island/Queens crowd per usual.

(Back sand area of Pink Elephant. FYI, if you can get a table inside, it’s much better, outside can be cold, and not nearly as much energy or action)

We have yet to confirm if these alliances are the result of internecine feuds, or more of a mergers and acquisitions type of situation, but because of their relative close proximity in location, we can only hope that it doesn’t create a “nightclub cannibalism” whereby the crowds are simply watered down at all places. So let it be a zero-sum game, where winner takes all. Mem day weekend often sets the tone for the rest of the summer, which is why so many of these guys are calling and emailing clients to come out…

Where in the world is Jamie Mulholland? That time of year is FINALLY here… we want to know where the invites for starroom and Stereo are? We will be there every step of the way reporting on who comes out the “winner” of the summer…who has the best crowd both status-wise and looks-wise, where the best decor, music, and food is as well. We are looking forward to the seeing the best of the best at their worst and our official criteria for judging is being refined so stay posted…ruff.
