Last night, Thrillist threw its holiday bash at our favorite hot spot “The Eldridge“. Emily “The Eldridge” Brill sat this one out, but Chris made the trek and said he had a blast. So much so that he’s not allowing me to play any Christmas music in the office until after noon on account of his “recovery”. It seems that Gawker’s Richard Blakeley also had a blast - you can see him grinning throughout this post. Johnnie Walker Blue seems to be the alcohol of choice these days, (or the ones that are handing out sponsorships the most), they sponsored this party (and the UrbanDaddy party earlier this week), and the various JW libations went so well with lobster tarts, smoked salmon and goat cheese canapes from Tsalon. I asked Chris what he thought of the party, this is what I could get out of him:

Sunday night, the Eldridge played host to a fundraising night for Make A Difference NYC, an organization that donates toys to underserviced children living in orphanages and homeless shelters. Guests came bearing toy donations, and stayed for a silent charity benefit auction, bidding on such items as Rangers tickets, David Yurman and Lia Sophia jewelry, and more. Camille Guaty and Will Forte were the official hosts for the evening, and DJ Mel DeBarge took care of the sound, while guests like Rachel Dratch, Kelly Brady, and Amber Lee Ettinger (remember her?!) came out to party for a cause.

After swearing off going out last night, we headed home and took a little nap. That’s when the texting started. “Come out, don’t stay in, we miss you, you’re on the list.” We are weak and so we succumbed. At least it was for a good cause. We dragged our asses to the Bowery Hotel for the Art Rocks benefit. Lydia was scheduled to host but as she is working in Paris was not able to attend. The crowd was a mixed bag of socialites, hipsters and guys in suits. The bar was completely impossible and was at least 6 people deep, so we did something we rarely do. We didn’t drink! Others seen not drinking included: Martin Dawson, Kristian Laliberte, Devorah Rose, David Chines, Rachelle Hruska, Matt Levine, Ally Hilfiger, David X. Pruting, David Foote and countless more. Read Rachelle’s write up HERE.

We’ve been surprisingly good boys for the last three days. We’ve been going to just as many events as usual, but we’ve been home by 11. Monday found us at the Blackbook welcomes Steve Lewis at Aspen Social. We serendipitously ran into Rachelle as we exited cabs and hit the event together. We ran into Steve Lewis first thing. He was holding court with Blackbook’s Cayte Grieve and owner Ari Horowicz. No sooner had we said our hello then Steve insisted on giving us all a tour. Once the tour was over we ran into Jen Gatien, Steve Kasuba and Debbie Harry. Having seen the host and the space we made our exits.
Tuesday we first went to John Varvatos’s private dinner at Mario Batalli’s Italian Wine Merchants. The party was to commemorate the watch that John designed with Ernest Benz. We were greeted by Robert Fowler and ate some scrumptious pasta and juicy steak. We rushed out to make the next party at the IAC. The party sponsor was Audi and the hostess was the lovely Padma Lakshmi. You couldn’t swing a dead cat without hitting a promoter and in a few minutes we ran into…

Apparently The Eldridge was THE place to be last night. Or at least Emily Brill aka essentiallyemily.com thought so. She decided to meet some “friends” at the newest LES hotspot The Eldridge when she encountered gridlock in midtown. What she left out was that she had quite a bit of trouble getting in. From a tipster this morning:
“I saw Emily Brill begging Naeem to get let inside the doors at The Eldridge for over 40 minutes last night. She kept pleading, making phone calls (presumably to “friends” inside). He finally let her in I was told, probably because he couldn’t stand the pestering any longer. When she did finally get in she was drunk as a skunk.”
Looks like Essentially Emily is missing the ESSENTIAL Eldridge entry card, and from the sounds of it, she has just ruined her chances of ever getting one. What is a socialite to do without her essentials?

Wow it’s been almost a week! Did you miss us?! So here’s our night:
We started our night at the T-Mobile Sidekick party at Bathhouse Studio. Our host Jackson Jeyanayagam (from Waggener Edstrom) told us to get there early because he has some surprises in store. Did he ever! The party was a total interactive, visual experience. We couldn’t even focus there was so much going on! There were bars everywhere and not just alcohol, there was also an ice cream shake bar, a peanut butter bar and an icee bar where you could pick your favorite flavor.

Hey,We have heard from a source that your writer Naeem will be working for The Eldridge a few nights a week, handling promotions and the door.
- Is this true?
- Did you know that he had a stake in the promotion of the new venue with the two posts?
- Is it your policy to allow editorial staff to include personal promotions in their posts?
- If yes to #3, can you tell us which of your editorial staff have been promoting in their posts?
Thanks!
So, I went straight to the source and called Scott and Naeem today. This is what they had to say:
