If you happened to be in the WeHo area at any point this weekend, you probably saw some truly astonishing getups and visions, from rainbow hula-hoop fairies to herds of grown men taking a casual stroll down the sidewalk wearing nothing but matching junderpants. It was, of course, all part of LA PRIDE, as Angelenos came out in droves to celebrate equality and party in the streets for the LGBT community. The image above captures what I was sitting behind in traffic yesterday afternoon on Melrose: a pinker than pink car with three people sitting on top out of the sunroof waving to passersby as if on a float in the Macy's Thanksgiving Day Parade. Wow. I don't even know if it was the semi-gloomy-but-pretty-nice weather, the Gay Pride, the Mavericks beating the MoHeatos, or just some kind of ancient druid equinox that makes everyone crazy, but gosh, did we as a city ever drink this weekend. It seemed like everywhere I went, I was stumbling into someone falling down on the street, puking in the bushes, or banging on the doors of In-N-Out at 4 am as if the guy who makes the shakes was sleeping in the back, just waiting for his fans to arrive. My proof this weekend is likely a haze for a bunch of Angelenos? These photos of a crowd in the process of getting blurry Friday night at Roxbury to kick-off the weekend. More»
Well, Mayor Antonio Villaraigosa is dancing with drag queens again, so you know what that means! No, his wife's not out of town—it means this weekend marks the 2011 edition of LA PRIDE, the West Hollywood-based Gay Pride festival/parade that makes a normal WeHo party look like a Sunday School field trip to the Creation Museum. And as a straight man, I can tell you for certain that whether or not you identify as LGBT, it's going to be worth your time. In the same way that you don't have to be Mexican on Cinco de Mayo or Irish on St. Patty's, LA PRIDE is a gigantic party open to any and all who want to celebrate equality and/or get drunk in public. West Hollywood is buzzing with news that there's a new sheriff in town. Literally. For the first time, a lesbian has taken the reins for the WeHo district. Our only question is... what took so long?!

Anyone who has ever been to an event at the Metropolitan Museum Of Art would probably agree that it's one of the city's best party venues. The Met lived up to its reputation last night at the Second Annual Post-Pride Party, an early evening viewing of both the Francis Bacon Centenary Retrospective and The Model As Muse: Embodying Fashion. [Marchers at London Pride 2009. All photos by Getty.] There was a different kind of celebration across the pond on Saturday as members of London's gay community took part in the city's annual Pride march. Much like NYC's Pride parade last month, spectators were dazzled by flamboyant costumes and colorful characters as marchers danced, sang, and just had a good time along the parade route from Oxford Street to Trafalgar Square. New York celebrated gay pride yesterday with the parade during the day and parties all over the city during the evening. I played co-host to probably the only party where the guests kept their shirts on. The party was called Pride and was presented by Mr. Patrick Duffy, along with media sponsor Interview Magazine and liquor sponsor Belvedere vodka. More»
[Lucy Liu. All photos for JONATHAN ZIEGLER for PMc] The National Gay and Lesbian Task Force's 2009 New York Leadership Awards were held last night at the Kimmel Center, but people came from all over the country to see San Francisco Mayor Gavin Newsom and designer John Bartlett recognized for their contributions to the gay community. An added bonus was actress Lucy Liu, who was a presenter at the event. More photos below...
Yesterday New York City held the infamous Gay Pride Parade. (Go HERE for last year's coverage). With all of its feathers, hot shorts, glitter, glam, and dance music the parade was by far an event to remember. The festivities began at 12 and continued throughout the day even through the rain!
