Sir Richard Branson, the eccentric billionaire founder of Virgin, was a more than an entertaining host for the Virgin Mobile Free Fest in Columbia, Maryland. In between acting as bartender, spraying the audience with booze and enjoying a cold one himself; the international big kid presided over the cost free concert supporting Re*Generation to fight youth homelessness. This weekend, Girl Talk, Wiz Khalifa and Max Tundra rocked JELLY's pool party Sunday Series, a globally recognized free concert event at the riverfront in Williamsburg. Although there isn't actually a pool involved (the concerts were originally staged at the McCarren Park Pool before outgrowing the venue), you wouldn't guess from the fans, who laughed in the face of the sticky summer swelter. Nothing but smiles and sporting some killer retro duds, the shoulder to shoulder dance party rounded out the weekend in rockin' style. Fans were jumping on (and getting thrown off) the stage while Girl Talk shared some new mash ups and danced with leopard and lycra clad hipsters. More»
[Photos by JOE SCHILDHORN for PMC] If you've ever got stuck in traffic on the way to the Hamptons or made a pit stop at the Louis Vuitton store in Manhasset on your way out here you know that it's a truly impressive shopping spot. So it's no wonder Details Magazine chose the store to host an event with LL Cool J this past Saturday, even if it wasn't the typical New York venue. While most of us were cruising the racks of Blue & Cream, Intermix, and TBD, celebs like Ashanti and DJ Cassidy were checking out what LV had to offer in Manhasset. While we didn't spot LL Cool J in the Hamptons Saturday night, we're sure more than a few of the guests at the LV event made their way out here after leaving the store that night. More»
[Girl Talk. Photos via SPIN] Last night, I had the pleasure of catching DJ Gregg Gillis, aka Girl Talk, live at Hiro Ballroom for the SPIN Magazine/Canon Party. I was part of a group helping a friend celebrate his 27th birthday, though I ran into dozens of familiar faces. "Girl Talk: I'm Not A DJ" flashed on the big video screens. Um, yeah ya are. And that's what makes this "concert" so cool... More»
OMG do you guys remember this????! I knew the lovely ladies of Full House were ahead of their times. Play this clip until about halfway in and you will notice a familiar name on their drumsets. The first and original "Girl Talk" mainly did covers of Ace of Base hits.

Girls and boyz alike are going crazy for Girl Talk these days. On November 15, the popular DJ took the stage at Terminal 5 and thousands of fans came in their favorite neon outfits and glow sticks. Girl Talk concerts tend to get out of control. Case in point? Last Saturday they were the prequel to the Yale-Harvard football game up in Cambridge and the police had to SHUT DOWN the concert after multiple failed attempts at crowd control. “It was the most unsuccessful successful show ever,” Leah E. Boch ’09 said.

"Wow what a crowd!...how do we get a beer around here."-Stephanie Wei
I'm currently in Seattle, Washington (more specifically, Bellevue, which is right outside the city) visiting my parents. I grew up and lived in Bellevue until I fled east to Yale for college and subsequently moved to NYC upon graduating. Basically, I haven't been around much for the past seven years.
I'd almost forgotten how great Seattle is in the months of July and August. However, I do always argue that there's nowhere else better to be in the continental U.S. during July and August than Seattle. I stand by that statement, particularly after this current trip. I also believe that Seattle may be the country's best kept secret...but I digress.

Now that I have given myself the proper amount of time to just sit and let it sink in, I am finally ready to talk about the latest album released from my not-so-secret crush, Gregg Gillis – better known as Girl Talk.
Girl Talk released his fourth album, Feed the Animals, via download on June 19th – and I have been nothing shy of blown away. I had been fairly certain that nothing would ever be able to touch his previous album, Night Ripper, released two years ago, when he did one of the most memorable mash-ups involving Elton John and The Notorious B.I.G. Pray tell – who else has the musical know-how to see that "Tiny Dancer" and "Juicy" can transition into one another?
