Guns 'N Roses

It's sad to say this, but the days when hard rock music dominated the charts are a clear thing of the past. Do you know the last time a rock song was #1 for the year on the Billboard Top 100 charts? It was 2002, and it was Nickelback's "How You Remind Me", which doesn't even count because Nickelback is the musical equivalent of Nutraloaf. Still, we were at least able to briefly turn back the clock last night, as a slew of Rock Icons from years past (and a few movie stars, as well) showed up to rage last night at Club Nokia for the 4th Annual Revolver Golden God Awards. Mobb Deep, Axl Rose

If you observed the glorious made-up holiday yesterday known as National Absinthe Day, a) good for you and best of luck recovering, and b) we totally feel you on not trying to hit the bottle (or the club) too hard this week. But in no way are we suggesting you stay in the rest of the week because there are too many good shows going down all over town between now and Monday. From Mobb Deep to Guns N' Roses, we've selected the best upcoming music happenings in L.A., so sit back and check out our guide to the live shows not to be missed this week. More»

Last night, DeLeon Tequila hosted the Guns N' Roses performance at the Hiro Ballroom, Jenne Lombardo, Hilary Rhoda, and Mazdack Rassi played some Tonsil (ice) Hockey at the Standard, Mick Jagger was at the Gramercy Park Hotel for L'wren Scott's after party, Sigourney Weaver hosted Nomad's Way Charity Gala at the New York Public Library, and so much more! Last night was all about getting wild for the end of fashion week!

It wouldn't be a NYC fashion week with at least one rock n roll show from Nur Khan (reference). And last night's party at Hiro Ballroom, hosted by Deleon Tequila, underneath the Maritime Hotel will go down as not only one of the major highlights of Fall FW12, but as one of the major shows in the history of the space that has hosted legendary rock-stars for the better part of this decade. You may be wondering what Khan, owner of the Electric Room underneath the Dream Hotel, just steps away from the Maritime, was doing hosting this epic event at Hiro. Here's what Nur told Steve Lewis yesterday:

"I'm doing this at Hiro; it's sort of my two cents into the goodbye. The town is losing another rock and roll room. I'm going to have to build another. We'd still be at Don Hill's if he hadn't died. This show at Hiro is all out ...confetti canons, arealists. It's the last hurrah before Mark Packer takes Hiro and Matsuri over and does what he does to it"

Though the most significant event of this past weekend was obvious, we also paid tribute to the indomitable American spirit by fully investing ourselves in America's greatest export: absurd pop culture. And what could be more absurd than the Comedy Central Roast of beloved crackhead warlock Charlie Sheen, which taped Saturday night? While the full special won't air until next Monday (going head-to-head with the Kutcheriffic season premiere of "Two And A Half Men"), we've already got the inside scoop on the funniest, most clever, or simply most brutal takedowns. Curious? More»
