Mimi Weddell, our favorite "Advanced Style" subject and the actress whom we threw a big old hat party for last fall at the Algonquin Hotel has passed away at the age of 94. Ari Cohen has a beautiful post HERE on the ways Mimi helped shape his life in NYC. The limited time I spent with Mimi was full of eccentricity fun, and of course, style...always style. I have never been more concerned about how I was dressed than the coffee date spent with Mimi! ha. What a gem!  Here's our hats off one last time to the great Mimi Weddell! More»

Last night, we hosted our "Hats Off!" party, to celebrate the DVD release of the critically acclaimed documentary about our favorite 93-year old "life muse", Mimi Weddell.  With our sponsor and cohost (and director of the film) Jyll Johnstone of Canobie Films, and our other cohost, the gracious Abigail Lorick, Ari Cohen and Rachelle Hruska (in Keith Lissner who was also present) welcomed guests to the historic Algonquin Hotel for cocktails, and chance to see the film and meet Mimi herself.  Guests who came to gaze upon the wonder that is Mimi (I'm not kidding, look at the pictures! It's like students sitting at the feet of Socrates) included:

Ari Cohen, Mimi Weddell[Mimi Weddell and Ari Cohen going over notes at Juliano Coffee]

Ari and I are very excited to start planning an extraordinary party for Actress-Model-NYC figure, Mimi Weddell. It will be hard to put together an affair that is half as extraordinary as the woman herself, but if anyone is up for the job it's Ari.  We met with the 93 year old up at Juliano's coffee today where we sat and listened to Mimi share her most personal contacts with us via her planner, an unorganized concoction of handwritten names and addresses, it was amazing to me that she manages everything on her own still. Mimi's newest film titled "Hats Off" is being released to DVD.  Get ready to see more from Mimi and her fabulous style!
