Last night at Haven, guests attending the Glitz and Glam event were not only treated to Prairie Organic Vodka cocktails but also surprised by a burlesque performance. All of the proceeds of the night went to SMART- Sisterhood Mobilized for AIDS/HIV Research. The night seemed quite fun, proof being that at some point Miss Zimbabwe USA decided to switch off her sash! More»

Me: "So this is my first time at Haven, very exciting, I've actually never heard of the place until this party."

Martin: "Um Gossip Girl totally just filmed their Christmas party here."

Duh. Talk about keeping up with the Zeitgeist.  The First Annual "Naughty or Nice" Christmas Party was, up until days beforehand, set to be at Bagatelle in Meatpacking.  Hosted by Martin Dawson, along with Valeri Bosler, Elizabeth Meigher, Dabney Mercer, Luigi Tadini, and Liz Walker, the venue was switched to Haven uptown. Thank god it was pouring out, we joked, because there would have been some very unhappy guests waiting in line to get in otherwise, the place was packed!  In my best Gossip Girl attire (winter white dress with purple tights and headband), I mix and mingled with some very jolly socials....

When I think of Sag Harbor, cutting edge fashion isn't the first thing that comes to mind, but between Lisa Perry's boutique in the American Hotel, and LABL -the Manhattan-based fashion/art/lifestyle collective, setting up shop under the Java Nation (78 Main St), it may soon crack the top 10.

The LABL team has done an excellent job of procuring hard-to-find and under-the-radar labels like Substance and Kenyon Bajus, and they also have an avid interest in building relationships with emerging artists, some of whose work will be on display at the store starting tomorrow. More»
