The prolific Downtown charity organization “Housing Works” opened the doors of their Tribecca Thrift Shop on Chambers street to eager New Yorkers looking to score some end of the summer deals on designer items.  Allure fashion editor Michael Carl, along with Charlotte Ronson and Shoshanna Gruss, donated a wealth of beachwear and accessories by designers like Gucci and Marc Jacobs in the name of the charity.  More»

Last night, Housing Works hosted their 5th Annual Design on a Dime event.  Guests like Ty Pennington, Parker Posey, Robert Verdi, Simon van Kempen and Alex McCord came to enjoy some VIP shopping and the party.  The sale continues through tomorrow at the Metropolitan Pavilion on W. 18th Street. [Busting a move at the Fashion For Action Opening Night Benefit]

Fashion For Action is a public sample sale with discounted designer goodies that is going to go on till November 16th at Chelsea Thrift Shop, 143 West 17th street.  The hope is to raise money for Housing Works, hopefully up to $500,000 . Last night the Opening Night Benefit was held that was chaired by Marc Jacobs and held at The Rubin Museum of Art.  At 6pm the VIP hour started with people like John Bartlett, Kate Shindle, Agathe Planchon, Leigh Taylor-Smith,  Julia Gilhart, Kathryn Finney, Richard Vorisek and many more. Then at 7, general admission started with an auction, cocktails, some hors d’oeuvres and dancing!
