Prutha Raithatha is the force behind the experimental fashion blog Don’t Shoe Me. She creates stories through fashion -- and her style is everything but boring. Furthermore, her fashion stories, like the recent one  titled May the Gods be with you. Period., incorporate serious socio-cultural messages. Over a cup of Glühwein, she gave us the scoop on where she gets her inspiration from, and revealed her favorite designers, blogs and places.

Fact: the Fourth Of July is a tremendous holiday. Somehow, we got together as a nation, and decided that in the interest of cultural authenticity, the best way to celebrate our country would be with hamburgers, beer and explosions. This was a fantastic decision on our part, because by choosing to celebrate ourselves in this way, we've created a holiday so easy to love that even jaded hipsters with oh-so-ironic communist tattoos (see above) have no choice but to celebrate it. Last summer was the first time the Freer and Sackler Galleries--the Smithsonian Asian Art museums--staged their Asia After Dark party.  Since then there have been three more installations.  Last night's Asia After Dark theme was Bhangra, and even if people didn't know what that meant, they got wild (FYI: Bhangra refers to music and dance from the Punjab region of India). [Photos by Adriel Reboh for PMc] By now you may have heard of Castlestock this past weekend, or even more likely, the man behind the madness, Sir Ivan, a fixture on the party scene in the Hamptons. If not, we're sure you've seen him around Lily Pond or the Social Life Estate or plenty of other places rocking his capes and elaborate outfits. We think this one may take the cake, fitting his Woodstock themed party perfectly. The psychedelic outfit was really brought out by the strobe lights used and was emphasized by a number of cape changes (both sporting large peace signs). Even though the majority of Sir Ivan's guests took part in the "mandatory flower" dress code, he by far won in the 60s/70s theme. We have to give him major credit - He may be the only person we've seen who can mix 3 patterns, a cape, and 25 colors, and make it work. Full coverage from Castlestock to come!
