With less than 48 hours until the polo fields were set to open for Coachella 2013, Goldenvoice as usual had us all sweating over set times and potential conflicts that would leave us with tough choices to make between artists playing at the same time. Although you can't be in two places at once, with the merciful release of the set times for Weekend 1, we can at least stop playing the "what if" game and start strategizing our stage-hopping. One thing you'll notice on the set times grid is the addition of a tent called Yuma beyond the Sahara tent which may affect your show itinerary. Now let's take a closer at the set times...
You don't have to be particularly (or at all) religious to love Easter Sunday. After all, there's a whole variety of Easter activities for heretics, the best among them being a gigantic, leisurely brunch. So go ahead and let Sunday be your Coachella diet cheat day this week because there are too many scrumptious dining opportunities not to indulge yourself this weekend. From gourmet dim sum and decadent meals featuring a lobster course to Easter egg hunts and mimosas galore, here's a guide to our picks for the tastiest specials, prettiest patios, and overall best Easter brunch experiences L.A. has to offer. You can get back your Coachella pool party body boot camp (perhaps one of these 10 fun fitness programs!) on Monday. [photo via]
The countdown is on with a little over three weeks until Coachella, and as we've learned, the event has become just as much about the pool parties happening that weekend as it is about the music festival, and taking a dip to stay cool in the dry desert heat will look very appealing as the sun beats down on Indio. Are you prepared to strip down in broad daylight in such a social setting? We certainly aren't. But we have a little over three weeks to get there, and with the right exercise and motivation, dream bikini figures are within reach. Following the five fun out-side-the-box fitness programs we discussed last week, we bring you FIVE MORE of the best new fitness programs and exercises beyond the tired gym that will get your body pool party-ready for Coachella and let you have fun in the process.
We won't debate that when we first started putting together yesterday's Instagram roundup of the Stagecoach Festival, the all-country weekend that came after Coachella at the Empire Polo Club, it was mostly a joke, a way to get some cheap laughs at the expense of a bunch of rednecks. But we've got to admit, the crazy good times that these wacky guys and gals are having is kind of making us think fondly of the whole thing, despite having seen more cowboy hats and Confederate flags than your average left-leaning Jew is entirely comfortable with. Now if someone could just explain to us what a "Brad Paisley" is. More»
It must really save Goldenvoice a few bucks on the Ferris wheel deposit to string their weekends together like this, because while organizing, running and keeping the peace between hipsters, scenesters and bros at two straight weekends of Coachella would seem to be enough work for just about anyone, GV rallied to deliver a third straight music festival at the Empire Polo Club this weekend. Of course, this time around, at the all-country-music Stagecoach Festival, the place felt subtly, but unmistakably, different. Let's investigate. More»
You know it's that time of year again and you know we canvas the Coachella party scene better than anyone—FACT. As my colleague Mikey Glazer over at The Wrap pointed out, the people responsible for the barrage of pool parties and events surrounding the festival all decided Weekend 1 over Weekend 2 was for them. From the third annual Neon Carnival and VIP gifting lounges, to literally dozens of daytime pool parties, there are more events to hit this weekend than ever and we're here again to help you prioritize. Except for the one a certain athletic wear brand and print-heavy fashion designer famously throw every year but asked not to be included because they're just too special, we present to you the complete list of the best and most exclusive parties in the desert this weekend in our annual Coachella 2012 Weekend Party Guide. The first weekend of Coachella is only 8 days away! Of course, if you weren't part of the lucky group of people who managed to snag a ticket before they sold out in only three hours back in January, you're probably going to have to pay a pretty hefty premium. With the huge lineup of popular artists this year, there's a very robust black market for those who took a shotgun to their laptops after sitting on Goldenvoice's holding page for an hour and coming up empty. Let's take a look at the various, and often wacky, options that people are pursuing to get their hands on some highly sought after wristbands. More»
On Saturday, the place we know only as an annual fake hippie oasis or west coast retirement demo's #1 destination year-round became metal country when The Big 4 descended on Indio. As we previously reported, on the heels of Coachella, the four biggest bands in heavy metal came together for a major blowout concert to rock the desert. More»

And, most importantly, traded your goats, followed us on Twitter, or done whatever else was necessary to secure your ticket? Because tomorrow, the long wait for Coachella 2011 is over. We could never deny that we're pumped for Coachella 2011. Nevertheless, even we noticed that, in an era where the Kings of Leon are what passes for a rock n' roll headliner, the lineup lacks a certain edge.
Well, tell those limp-wristed indie rockers to take their Priuses with them when they leave the Polo Grounds, because the Saturday after Coachella, the four biggest bands in heavy metal are descending upon Indio to melt your face off. More»
