We've never made a secret of our abiding love for charity galas and parties for a cause, but even we can admit that some causes are more worthy than others. Sure, that foundation for cross-eyed Golden Retrievers in Santa Monica is making a positive difference or whatever, but there's really no comparison to a organization that helps real human beings in distress, right here in Los Angeles. That's why we're so impressed with the work that Inner-City Arts does providing a safe haven for some of L.A.'s most deserving kids right in the heart of Skid Row, and why we're thrilled that their Summer On 7th annual gala, which went down on Saturday, was a rousing success. We've never made a secret out of our love for charity fundraisers. A party combined with an opportunity to benefit a worthy cause, and maybe even learn something? We're on board. Within two days of being in L.A., Prince William and Kate Middleton managed to turn Hancock Park on its ear, catch up with David Beckham, take a helicopter ride, play some polo, and get comfortable enough to touch Babs Streisand on her shoulder. But for the third and final day of their L.A. tour, instead of more hobnobbing with Hollywood at swanky events, the Duke and Duchess of Cambridge spent time exercising their charitable sides in some of the seediest parts of L.A. Well, that is before squeezing in one last high-end celebrity shmoozathon on the way to the airport. Let's observe... More»

Lets face it, it's cool to dork out and be connected with all the latest gadgets. And in no other setting is that more true than the official week-long celebration of all things social media. Fashionistas and designers have Fashion Week, while tech-savvy Tweeters have Social Media Week, which kicked off in our city Monday night with the opening party for Social Media Week L.A. 2010. More»
