This weekend, Brooklyn’s Prospect Park hosted the first Great GoogaMooga Festival, a food and drink festival that attracted thousands of attendees, including James Murphy, Aziz Ansari, and Donald Glover (a.k.a. Childish Gambino). If there's anything New Yorkers know how to do well, it's yelling at taxi drivers and, of course, eating and drinking. This festival featured 73 different restaurants, food seminars with some of the top chefs and food enthusiasts, including Tom Colicchio, Masaharu Morimoto, and Terry Theise, and enough beer and wine to survive another world war. It's impossible, try as we might, not to view Mike D's amazing Transmission L.A. audio/visual art festival at The Geffen Contemporary at MOCA through the prism of last week's tragic loss of Beastie Boy Adam "MCA" Yauch. But, while it's not our place to presume to know MCA's thoughts, we're pretty sure he would have been happy that even as the world was mourning his loss, Transmission was continuing to thrill music-loving audiences with big-name performances like Thursday's show from British garage pioneer DJ Harvey and LCD Soundsystem's James Murphy.  More»

Given the darkness and violence of the subject material, it's understandable that The Girl With The Dragon Tattoo wasn't going to be marketed on Burger King cups or NFL pregame shows. So when the suits at MGM told Trent Reznor, who composed the soundtrack, to come up with a creative way to market the movie, he had only one criteria: it had to be "something other than some bullshit party at the Chateau Marmont with a bunch of bullshit people." I think teaming up with HARD to bring Deadmau5 and James Murphy to the Palladium, for free, qualifies. More»

The Museum of Modern Art, MoMA, MoMA PS1 and Volkswagen held a celebratory dinner at the legendary museum for the new partnership that will support exhibitions and education programs at MoMA.
