“Best 2k I Ever Spent!” Throwing A Birthday When You Own The Club, Matt Shendell Takes Over Dune
[Photos by Kirill]. When you own a Hamptons nightclub, birthday planning isn’t complicated by the worries of all your friends getting in someplace, buying a table, etc.. It allows you to concentrate on other important details, like how to get people pouring tequila down each other’s throats. It was just this sort of situation for Dune owner Matt Shendell. Fabolous and DJ Jesse Marco performed at the Asics, Culture Shoq and Perrier-Jouet sponsored birthday party, attended by guests including Jasmin Rosemberg, Zev Norotsky and Rich “Big Daddy” Salgado. Matt’s recipe for bringing in another year was as successful as his East End hot spot, as evidenced by the undeniably boozed faces, the straight-from-the-bottle guzzling and general look of throwing down which for some reason is only perfected as an expression when out in the Hampies, very late at night, several drinks in. Three Nights Out With Scott: BlackBook, John Varvatos, Audi, The Imperial, And Furla
Go HERE for more photos from Scott’s 3 day adventure.
We’ve been surprisingly good boys for the last three days. We’ve been going to just as many events as usual, but we’ve been home by 11. Monday found us at the Blackbook welcomes Steve Lewis at Aspen Social. We serendipitously ran into Rachelle as we exited cabs and hit the event together. We ran into Steve Lewis first thing. He was holding court with Blackbook’s Cayte Grieve and owner Ari Horowicz. No sooner had we said our hello then Steve insisted on giving us all a tour. Once the tour was over we ran into Jen Gatien, Steve Kasuba and Debbie Harry. Having seen the host and the space we made our exits.
Tuesday we first went to John Varvatos’s private dinner at Mario Batalli’s Italian Wine Merchants. The party was to commemorate the watch that John designed with Ernest Benz. We were greeted by Robert Fowler and ate some scrumptious pasta and juicy steak. We rushed out to make the next party at the IAC. The party sponsor was Audi and the hostess was the lovely Padma Lakshmi. You couldn’t swing a dead cat without hitting a promoter and in a few minutes we ran into…

Lacoste Celebrates The Other Half

[Jasmin Rosemberg with Ramona Singer]
Last night, Lacoste and the New York Times had a party at the Lacoste Store on 56th and Madison to celebrate Jasmin Rosenberg’s novel How the Other Half Hamptons …..Meanwhile, I was experiencing ‘How the other half waits in line OUTSIDE’ thanks to the security guard manning the door. My attempt to get in went something like this:
Doug: I’m press, I need to get in there.
Doorman: Sorry you have to get in the end of the line like everyone else.
Doug: I’m press, I need to be in there to get the scoop.
Doorman: Can I see some ID?
So I show him my license
Doorman: I need a PRESS ID.
Doug: There is not a universal ID that press people carry.
Doorman: You will have to wait in line and you should have gotten here sooner.
Doug: I can’t cover the party from outside; I need to be in the party.
(Meanwhile, there wasn’t even a guest list for the party, so I’m not sure how a “press ID” would have expedited the situation.)
Anyway, right about that time, my golden ticket Rachel Heller came from inside the party to usher me in.

Jasmin Rosemberg’s Round Two At Lilypond Shared With Dina Lohan

[Betsy Rudnick, Ian Gerard, and Jasmin Rosenberg at Lilypond. Photo by Rob Rich]
From: hamptons.guestofaguest.com
When your debut novel is about the adventures surrounding a summer at a Hampton”s share house, it”s only fitting that, on top of your NYC party at the in-the-moment club, your second party be thrown out east. It looks like Jasmin”s round two was just as fabulous as it”s predecessor at 1Oak…even if she had to share it with Dina Lohan and crew who decided to show up later on (um, anyone else want to play the game “if MY mom showed up at Lilypond…” with Claire and I?)

Books And Birthdays
Go HERE for more photos of this event by Scott and Naeem.
Last night was a typical night for us, too many invitations combined with not enough time or energy. So we missed Blue and Cream, said no to W New York Downtown Hotel & Residences(too far!) and decided that we’re only going to do events where our friends have some major involvement, not just attending. So our first stop was Jasmin Rosemberg’s launch for her new (and first) book, How the Other Half Hamptons. The event was held at one of our favorite spots, 1OAK.

“How The Other Half Hamptons” Book Launch Party At 1Oak
Go HERE for more photos by Max Flatow.
Do you think there were enough events going on last night? There was the opening reception for John Jaxheimer at Blue & Cream, the Chloe and Reese Trunk Show, The Gradient Magazine Launch Party at the W New York Downtown Hotel & Residences, The Art of Elysium Benefit at Milk Gallery, and finally, the launch party of Jasmin Rosemberg’s first novel: “How the Other Half Haptons” at 1 Oak.
I missed out on everything, and instead fell asleep on my couch watching Sunday’s episode of Weeds. Thankfully, Doug, Eric, and Max covered some lost ground for me. And, from the looks of at least Max’s photo journalism skills at 1Oak, I was missing out on all the fun…

Blackbook Magazine Takes Over 1Oak

Go HERE for more photos from this event
Ever been in a room full of people you’re sure are fabulous but whom you don’t actually recognize? We were, last night at Blackbook Magazine’s May issue bash, held at the “First you need to get in. Then you need to be cool enough to get a table. Then you can get bottles” glory that is 1 Oak. Somehow we got in that door and, later, into a cushy banquette next to our lovely chum Model Behavior. First though, we ran into the ever dapper Single Threat, who was able to give us the down-low (low-down? no doubt) re the buffed and de-puffed cognescetti getting their Skky-fueled freak on to the Beatles and Britney.
