[Matthew Assante and Dustin Terry with their fans]

Have you met Matthew Assante and Dustin Terry yet? These two are the men responsible for the newest summer rooftop brunch party at the Gansevoort Hotel that we told you about last week. The Hamptons are sooo 2004 right?

Just when you thought the boozy brunch party scene was over-saturated, Matthew and Terry bring us more of it.  Seeing the “demand” for another one after realizing that the economic downturn has affected many New Yorker’s plans to spend the summer out East. The pair, who are protégés of Strategic’s Jason Strauss and Noah Tepperberg have been doing nightlife parties for awhile, More»

[Jason Strauss, Paris Hilton, Noah Tepperberg] Did you miss the lecture that Harvard kids sat in on last week with Strategic Group founders Jason and Noah? Are you curious to see what it’s like to party around Jason Strauss himself?  Wait no longer. The man himself will be tearing it up at Marquee tonight at his very own birthday party. The action starts at 10pm. Expect to see friends like partner Noah Tepperburg and Rich Thomas in attendance.  As for getting in? You’re going to have to work that out on your own with Wass.

Deemed at one point “the hottest club in the known universe” by the NY Post, Marquee has defied the odds and made it to its fifth anniversary. That’s five years of bottles (sometimes 20k!), models, celebs, and the largest taxicab gridlock this side of the Mississippi.  Embracing the externalities of Chelsea’s nightlife boom (of which they played no small part), their recent advertisement on taxicabs reads “MARQUEE, providing us with the longest cab lines for over 5 years”

The brainchild of Noah Tepperberg and Rich Thomas, Marquee led the wave of nightlife development on 27th street in Chelsea with Bungalow 8 that ushered in neighbors such as Cain, Pink Elephant, Home, and Guest House.  Alas, a revolution of brand name clubs were born.

Gotham Magazine is debuting their annual picks of the city’s top 100 bachelors. Here is a highlight a few of the several picks:

-Both Jason Strauss and Noah Tepperberg of Marquee fame.

-Jared Kushner, owner of the Observer. (ummm…isn’t he dating Ms. Trump?)

-Eric Em, the “guest relations manager” (whatever that means) of Soho House.

-Kipton Cronkite, financial nerd.

-Jesse Keyes, real estate developer and co-owner of La Esquina, Lead invester of Goldbar.

-Richie Akiva, co-owner of Butter and self-perfected name dropper.

-Adam Albert, director of promoters, 1-OAK and Butter.

-Jeffrey Jah, Co-owner, Double Seven and Inn LW12

So let’s get this straight, the top single men here are promoters and club owners?!! Doesn’t this seem a little skewed? What about the artists, musicians, actors, writers, etc.? For a full list of bachelors, go here.

Looks like it’s going to be a sizzling hot summer….

We haven’t completley sussed out the situation yet, and it can be expected to continue to develop over the next couple of weeks, however, it appears that some very interesting nightclub players have teamed up to compete for the polo-jetset Hamptons crowd this summer. These types of match-ups have yet to be seen out in the East End or Manhattan for that matter. The winner of course will get it, and the losers will be left shoving bottles down the throats of the B & T/Staten Island/Queens crowd per usual.

We have yet to confirm if these alliances are the result of internecine feuds, or more of a mergers and acquisitions type of situation, but because of their relative close proximity in location, we can only hope that it doesn’t create a “nightclub cannibalism” whereby the crowds are simply watered down at all places. So let it be a zero-sum game, where winner takes all. Mem day weekend often sets the tone for the rest of the summer, which is why so many of these guys are calling and emailing clients to come out…

Where in the world is Jamie Mulholland? That time of year is FINALLY here… we want to know where the invites for starroom and Stereo are? We will be there every step of the way reporting on who comes out the “winner” of the summer…who has the best crowd both status-wise and looks-wise, where the best decor, music, and food is as well. We are looking forward to the seeing the best of the best at their worst and our official criteria for judging is being refined so stay posted…ruff.
