Today, Jessica Schroeder teaches us the ways of Thrifting.
Going thrifting is easier said than done. If you’re lucky, you live in a town with a clean, well priced store. Maybe you’re really lucky (like me!) and have a store that carefully picks the merchandise. Either way, here’s some tips to help you break into the thrifting world with as little discouragement as possible.
1. Start Small - literally. Most thrift stores have bins of old poly and silk scarves. Chances are good you’ll find something here and give yourself the confidence to move onward. EXAMPLE: Dior Scarf ($0.95)
2. Shoes - Some of my favorite pairs have come from the thrift store, but I’ve also just gotten too excited and bought some pairs that didn’t end up so comfortable. Buy your day in, day out shoes at a store you equate with comfort and style and leave your thrifted shoes for fun. If they end up being a pain, at least you didn’t spend much on them. EXAMPLE: Black Boots ($60)

I”m afraid that this weekend may mark the beginning of the truly brisk weather we are to be expecting this time of year. For New Yorkers especially, that means it”s time to switch over their closet clothes from warm weather to cold weather. Some of my friends really enjoy this job, finding treasures they forgot they had, spending a weekend afternoon in for once, and having some alone time. I am not one of those people. I am basically clueless when it comes to closet organization. Thankfully, Jessica is giving us advice on closet quick tips to help make organizing day a bit easier. For her quick tips, click below:

[Jessica Schroeder, Can we be friends?]
I have a crush. A girl crush. On another blogger. Jessica Schroeder is funny, beautiful, and more charming than any blogger I’ve come across (excluding my sister). She manages a kick ass personal Tumblr along with “What I Wore” and “My Daily Bread” that are brilliant photos of just that. She gets the fact that “STYLE” is a word much like “CLASS”, you don’t just get it by adhering to seasonal trends or by walking into boutiques on Mulberry Street. You are just as likely to find it walking around in Indiana as you are on Madison Ave. (Well, maybe she’s atypical but you get the point). You either have it or you don’t, and Jessica, clearly DOES.
