This is Second Time Around’s first store in New York, although there are eighteen other shops sprinkled along the East Coast spreading from Maine to DC. The store is a glorified consignment shop that adheres to a strict set of rules when accepting used clothes from patrons. Yet, these rules are truly what sets Second Time Around apart from so many other consignment shops. More»

The garden rooftop at Rockefeller Center was full of all-star designers Monday night as the Council of Fashion Designers of America (CFDA) announced their nominees for their coveted 2009 Fashion Awards. CFDA president Diane von Furstenberg and diamond darling Nadja Swarovski hosted a cocktail party in honor of the nominees which include Marc Jacobs, Thakoon Panichgul, Kate & Laura Mulleavy for Rodarte, and Narciso Rodriguez, Vera Wang, Jason Wu, Anna Sui and many more.

John Bartlett presented his preppy-with-a-twist Fall 2009 Menswear Collection, complete with lots of plaid, tweeds, and newsboy-caps evocative of Depression-era America, to an audience of rather dapper gentlemen. In the crowd at 46 Greenwich Ave were style guru Tim Gunn, Peter Som, Jeffrey Banks, Stefano Tonchi, Emil Wilbekin, and Fonsworth Bentley, who sported a look that seemed to come just off the runway.

John Bartlett, the Harvard sociology major, held his fall fashion show last night at 46 Greenwich. Bartlett:

“With his thick brush of hair, round glasses, and toothy grin, Cincinnati-born Bartlett looks like he could be his own model… his clothes often tease the uptight norms of menswear.” [NY Mag]

In January of 2008, John Bartlett and Liz Claiborne announced that Bartlett would be signing on as Creative Director overseeing the men’s collection Claiborne. The new label and collection, which will launch in Spring 2009, will be named Claiborne By John Bartlett.
