Today is the official last day of work for many of our friends over at Page Six Magazine.  And, with that, I would like to toast their departures with a quote my sister sent me once when I was feeling pretty low:

Though we will miss your witty contributions at Page Six mag, we are looking forward to the great things you will no doubt be doing, especially you Kelly and Gregory!

Baron Davis, the star point guard for the Los Angeles Clippers, is bringing something special to New York City this weekend. Baron and his business partner, Cash Warren (Jessica Alba’s husband) have teamed up to create their Academy Award worthy documentary, Crips & Bloods: Made in America.

The film premieres tonight, January 23rd at 7pm at the IFC Center (323 Sixth Avenue) and will run in screenings daily until January 30th. The film is narrated by Academy Award Winner, Forest Whitaker and is directed by Stacy Peralta (Dogtown).

Cash and Jessica Alba, will be in town for the premiere, but Baron has to work - you know how demanding the NBA can be. So I sat down with Baron earlier this week to talk about the film, how it all came together and how you land Forest Whitaker as a narrator…..

I’ll never forget the first time I met Kelly Will. I was new on the scene and didn’t quite know what to make of my surroundings: Penthouse at the Soho Grand.  It was an after party for some movie or another, though I couldn’t tell you what.  And Kelly, seemingly unsure on how uncomfortable I was at the time, graciously chatted me up like we had been friends for years.  She looked like the kind of girl that knew EVERYTHING about the city and it’s societal affairs.  She did too. Thankfully, I’ve managed to materialize that night into an actual friendship.  She has done me the honor of writing for gofg on occasion and I could not be more pleased to hear that she is the new go to gal over at Page Six Magazine.
