How often do you take your keyboard out dancing? Probably not often enough. The girls at left are so thrilled with their new pink keyboards, they took them out to Kiss N’Fly to celebrate. More»

[Robert Fowler III gets some Birthday loving from Simon van Kempen] The always stylish Robert Fowler, boy-about-everywhere (oh yeah, and I guess he works at John Varvatos when he’s not out partying), threw everyone for a loop by having a “NO List… NO Line… NO Theme…” super casual 26th Birthday… And by super casual we mean a open bar packed with a roster of NYC’s socials, fashion plates, and reality-stars that is More»

The Gates was full of some New York’s finest party people last night for trendsetter Kim Bates‘ private birthday bash.    The event, entitled “White Haute Mess” featured beats by DJ Mess Kid and required “white haute” attire from guests in keeping with the theme.  Among the invites were Stephanie Wei, Danny Shea, Kyle Hotchkiss-Carone, Nick Deitz, Kashmir Snowdon-Jones, guestofaguest’s own insider socialites Scott Buccheit and Naeem Delbridge, Robert Fowler, designer Keith Lissner, Teddy Van Bueren and Roberto Monticello; all of whom came out to celebrate the birthday of one of New York’s most fabulous fashion adepts. Last night, I was honored to be included as a judge at Dressed to Kilt, the annual Scottish inspired fashion show for charity hosted by Sir Sean Connery and wife Lady Micheline. Marking its seventh year, Dressed to Kilt has been dubbed “the highest profile Scottish event in the United States.” The highly-anticipated event features kilted gents and plaid-clad ladies strutting their stuff down the runway for an A-list of judges.  More»

Daniel and Derek Koch, our favorite twins, of Jour et Nuit fame, are now playing host to the insanity that is the Merkato 55 Brunch. If you’ve ever experienced a Koch brother brunch, you know it’s not your regular old sit down grandmother’s tea time.  In fact, by the end of the afternoon, most patrons are neither sitting nor standing around….they are DANCING.  Nick Dietz, my partner in crime party crasher, definitely had this in mind when he was planning his big birthday brunch.

From: hamptons.guestofaguest.com:

Sunset Beach, that little piece of paradise off of the shores of Shelter Island is the perfect place to throw your summer Birthday Bash. Andre Balazs’s may be in charge of this hot spot, but even so, once there you feel like you are far away from the normal Hampton’s social scene. The food is great, the drinks are even better, and the ambiance is unbeatable. Every year Kim Bates, a regular summer resident on Shelter Island, celebrates her birthday there. I had forgotten how magical the place was until this past Saturday, when I was lucky enough to join in on the celebration.

Eric Spear vs. Kim Bates

Today’s Fame Game Matchup is between two NY socials that share more than just the same group of friends.  Eric Spear and Kim Bates are the kings of their jungles, being born 3 days apart (Kim on the 14th and Eric on the 17th) these Leos are dominant, spontaneously creative and extrovert, playful and charming.  I have always had wicked fun with Leos, and these two are no exception.

It’s a little bit ironic to have Kim Bates as the Daily Style Phile pick today because she is the one who should be making these picks, not me.  She has, after all, made a career out of tracking and forecasting trends.  There is no “one word” I can think of to describe Kim Bates.  Rather, the culmination of words like fashionable, chic, sassy, popular, stunning, classy, elegant, fabulous, posh, sparkling, polished and witty are needed to do the job. Kim is all of the adjectives above and so many more.  She is the woman I pictured in my head as that “posh New York ‘it’ woman” when I was a little girl in the Midwest dreaming of the big city.  She is a trend setter, a role model, and an inspiration….and she’s just getting better with age.
