The next time you hear some non-Angeleno say L.A. lacks any real culture, ask them if the KROQ Weenie Roast has ever come to wherever they're from or the last time The Weeknd played a show at sunset in a cemetery where famous people like Bugsy Siegel, two of the Ramones, Jayne Mansfield and George Harrison have been laid to rest. It may not feel like L.A.'s five-month-long shorts and sandals pool party season outside yet, but the summer of live music is already going strong with the aforementioned concerts and more, all of which we bring you in this handy guide to L.A.'s top shows to see this week. We've been trying to tell you this for weeks, but the Summer Of Live Music isn't going to be stopping any time soon. Nope, with yet another week of unique shows from big names, old favorites and dynamic new groups, it looks like you're not getting any rest before Labor Day. But trust us, this is nothing to complain about, especially with only-in-L.A. gems like The Weeknd on the Hollywood Forever Cemetery lawn on the radar. So whatever else you might be up to this week, make sure you leave time to Go See A Show! More»

Summer is here, people, and that means you're expected to step up your "recreational activities" game. Yes, I know the nice year-round weather fools you into thinking summer's not special, or that it may be an inconvenience in some way (and you're partially right), but that doesn't change the fact that the best live music—outdoor shows, major tours, kickass festivals—all of this ramps up severely during summertime. So here, then, is the first installment of "Go See A Show!", the GofG guide to the L.A. live music you ought to check out in the next two weeks. More»

Mos Def really needs no introduction, as he is one of hip-hop's most revered artists, and, without a doubt, a success in transcending definitions of underground and mainstream. The hip-hop hero gave an exclusive performance yesterday for a group of lucky Musicians Institute students who packed the on-campus venue and had no problem showing their appreciation for his words and beats. It was as if KT Tunstall cast a spell over the audience of her Hotel Cafe show last night, with all the room's eyes fixed on the soulful songbird as she performed. The intimate setting of the venue was perfect for the singer-songwriter's style of music, a blend of alternative, pop, and electronic. After Garrison Starr opened, KT took the stage solo, with no band backing More»

During and after the Kings of Leon concert last night at the Hollywood Bowl, The Hideout, a convenient stone's throw away down Highland, hosted a party in honor of the big show. But never mind the concert; guys knew the raspy southern crooning of the chart-topping band would draw wide-eyed, love-thirsty females and swooped in to get their mack on. More»
