As opposed to say, New York Fashion Week which showcases collections from the top designers and fashion houses around the world, it's no secret L.A. Fashion Week is nowhere in the same league, and has instead become a celebration of our local fashion culture. Last night, Fashion Group International Los Angeles got a head-start on the LAFW festivities with the Meet The Designer & The Muse event where some of the town's most renowned designers, fashion figures and their muses stepped out for the cause. L.A. Fashion Week 2012 is unofficially upon us with pre-parties and opening receptions taking place this week in preparation for all of the fantastic runway shows that are scheduled to debut beginning Monday, March 12. Fashion Week is a great opportunity for designers, make-up artists, photographers, models and fashion enthusiasts to come together and network and make the world a more beautiful place. It's also a fantastic time to let loose at one of the many star-studded events surrounding the fall collection debuts and runway shows.  We're here to make sure you get a good balance of open bar time and fashion inspiration with our Official GofG L.A. Fashion Week 2012 Party Guide! More»

Kate and Laura MulleavyIf you do fashion, you go to NYC, and if you do entertainment, you go to L.A. That's the general rule of thumb should you decide to pursue a career in either of those industries. L.A., you know I'm yours, but I feel like I'm perpetuating a really bad, embarrassing lie when I call it "LA Fashion Week." Maybe "LA Fashion Appreciation Week" or even "Fashion Awareness Week" would be more appropriate, but suggesting it's among the ranks of NYFW is borderline crazy. No, not borderline, it's actually plain crazy. However, the two sisters behind Rodarte, the highly sought after fashion line responsible for the costumes in Black Swan, have no intention of leaving their SoCal roots for NYC. More»

via la.guestofaguest.com: L.A. "Fashion Week" has started and it looks a lot different than Paris or New York. Anna and Karl are noticeably absent, as are the high fashion outfits and seamlessly produced shows. In their place come bikini parades at Hollywood nightclubs. With leprechauns. MORE>>>

We've said it before but we'll say it again: L.A. "Fashion Week" is a bit of misnomer when you take into account what Fashion Week means in places like Paris and NYC. Instead of Anna and Karl sitting front row at the high fashion runway shows, we have this guy MCing a bikini parade in a Hollywood nightclub. With leprechauns. But that's okay, we're just staying true to ourselves and having fun in the process. More»

Fashion is a uniquely fast-moving segment of the art world, a domain where trends are fleeting, and the hunt is always on for the next big thing. It is with this in mind that the tastemakers from New York, Paris and Milan have turned their heads towards KGB Gallery, where the Hang The DJs vs Mucho Fashion Show Dance Party last week made bold strides forward for the fashion world at large. Here now, a quick breakdown of some of the best innovation seen, and some educated guesses on where we'll see it popping up next... More»

One way ease us into the upcoming L.A. Fashion Week (which is admittedly not this city's forte) is with hybrid fashion events. You know, like before jumping into full-throttle fashion shows, warm Angelenos up with something they're a bit more comfortable with and used to, like say, all-night dance parties. More»

When it first debuted over a decade ago, the Mondrian's SKYBAR experienced a long run as one of the hottest destinations in L.A. nightlife. Although it doesn't quite have the same allure it did then, SKYBAR clearly has staying power, outlasting similar spots of the same generation, and even ones since then. So how has the poolside patio and cabana overlooking the city skyline stayed afloat amid an ever-changing nightlife landscape and the hundreds of new hotspots that have popped up all this time? In case you're living under a rock, it's still L.A. Fashion Week (it actually lasts for over just over two), which means we're only about halfway through. To help you get through everything that's been going on in honor of the big event, we've been serving up our overage in small doses. Here's our Part II roundup of what's happened so far. [Go HERE to get yourself up to speed with Part I]. More»

Since last week, events in honor of L.A. Fashion Week 2010 have been popping up all over town. But our version of fashion week strays quite a bit from the classic sense of runway shows and elegant parties.  Keep reading to see how we do Fashion Week with things like outdoor cocktails, poolside parties and Foosball.
