This summer more than ever, when a night comes along that is free of rain, lightly warm and breezy, we suggest just one thing—get yourself outside, asap! If you aren’t waiting for the rain to stop in the Hamptons, the Soho House poolside is the one of the best city ways to spend a rare perfect summer night. The great weather was a big plus for the fashion event, Skinny Dip, which featured (this month) the latest summer designs from Juliette Longuet in a show styled by Felix Mercado (founder of SiWS PR) along with live music, performances (some with fire!) and barely dressed dancers. Last night, Suzy Biszantz, the CEO of La Perla North America, and NY accessories designer and social, Genevieve Jones, co-hosted an event at the La Perla store in the Meatpacking District. Guests sipped on cool spring cocktails while they browsed the sexy but always elegant and tasteful La Perla Black Label’s Spring 2009 collection, as well as Genevieve Jones’ new Fall 2009 jewelry collection. Aside from admiring (and for some, buying) the beautiful collections, the highlight of the evening was when Genevieve arrived arm-in-arm with lovable fashion staple, Zac Posen! (Pictured together at left). Other guests included Julia Restoin-Roitfeld, Elise Overland, Bonnie Morrison, Pamela Love, Prince Peter, Sue Stemp, Sofia Hesketh and Prabal Gurung.
We laugh, we sang, and we danced our way through the festivities uptown last night. After stopping by the Victor Demarchelier/Alexandra Richards party at Mina Gallery in Astor Place, we headed WAY uptown to join the UES’drs at the Frick Collection Young Fellows Ball. Afterward, everyone headed to the St. Regis Hotel’s Aston Court for the La Perla-Clandestine Interlude where this gentleman tickled the old ivories for everyone’s amusement. Guests at St. Regis included…
Check out the sexy scene at 1 Oak complete with models and bottles for lingerie label La Perla’s latest line presented on Valentine’s Day. The models lounged in their silky barely-there underwear and posed as the crowd sipped cocktails and enjoyed the view. More photos …
Fabian Basabe has recently been popping up all over the place. So, we decided to do our own research on the has-been socialtard. We found just what was suspected, Fabian Basabe, male socialite and purported rich boy cast member of the E! show “Born Rich” is anything but rich. He originally tried to portray himself as the son of an Ecuadorian telephone tycoon, his wikipedia entry says he is the son of Restaurantuer, and he has layed claim to owning the 2 star Boulevard Hotel in Miami. Well none of these a true. In fact Mr. Basabe Sr. appears to serially go Bankrupt. In 1998 he filed for Chapter 7, in 2002 he filed for Chapter 13, in 2004 he filed for 7, and in 2006 he filed for Chapter 11 bankruptcy involving the Boulevard Hotel, due to massive losses in Basabe’s parent company 740 Ocean Drive, LLC.
Apparently Basabe’s father had 3 mortgages out on the hotel to pay for it, and went belly up, forcing a 363 sale (for financially stressed businesses).
The litigation surrounding the sale is still ongoing, involving Fabian Basabe Enterprises Inc, 740 Ocean Drive LLC, and Fabian Basabe Sr. Any idea how Fabian plans on continuing to pay for his elaborte bottle service nights out?
Well, he obviously was in preparations a long time ago. In October of 2005 he married Martina Borgomanero, an heiress to the La Perla lingerie fortune. And if that ever ends, he can always rely on his blog.
