Last night, the Metropolitan Museum of Art hosted their Young Members Party, which included pre-party drinks on the balcony and a look at the Costume Institute’s spring exhibition, PUNK: Chaos to Couture. Guests started to fill up the main lobby a little past 8pm and the party continued with a DJ set by DFA/LCD Soundsystem's Pat Mahoney. Artist Curtis Kulig stopped by early on in the night, hanging out on the balcony where he had a chance to view his work for the YMP. Check out the photos from the MET! More»
Sud De France hosted a tasting table at The Smile on Sunday night. The second installment of the five-feast Sud de France Tasting Tables was a personal take on Languedoc-Roussillon specialties by Chef Melia Marden. The four-course menu featured dishes such as baked stuffed zucchini blossoms, orange saffron seafood stew with roasted sweet pepper crostini, and an Apricot-Lavender tart. The meal was paired with Languedoc-Roussilon wines, and music included a two-piece jazz band playing down-tempo gypsy jazz and early swing music. More»

It's impossible, try as we might, not to view Mike D's amazing Transmission L.A. audio/visual art festival at The Geffen Contemporary at MOCA through the prism of last week's tragic loss of Beastie Boy Adam "MCA" Yauch. But, while it's not our place to presume to know MCA's thoughts, we're pretty sure he would have been happy that even as the world was mourning his loss, Transmission was continuing to thrill music-loving audiences with big-name performances like Thursday's show from British garage pioneer DJ Harvey and LCD Soundsystem's James Murphy.
