Heads Up: There is an art scene outside of Chelsea! On Saturday evening, New York art lovers took advantage of the balmy weather and went on an LES ArtCrawl, enjoying galleries and museums from Bowery to East Broadway. Participants sipped on free wine and beer, and perused some of the finest examples of local art, beginning at the New Museum and onto the 28 participating galleries. The event, which was hosted by Artlog.com, was followed by an after party at GalleryBar. More photos below… More»

The Lower East Side gets another new restaurant! Canadian celebrity chef Susur Lee, best known for his Asian and European fusion food, gave us a taste last night of his stateside debut Shang. Located at the Thompson LES Hotel on Orchard St, the space is set to officially open in December (after a much anticipated waiting), and will feature what Lee refers to as “global Chinese” cuisine. Last night’s sneak peak was hosted by Gourmet magazine, and attended by New York restaurant heavyweights like Tom Colicchio, Daniel Boulod, and Bobby Flay. Everything looked delicious, and we can’t wait to see the finished product in a few weeks.

Go HERE to see NY Mag’s Grub Street list of all Lee’s hors d’oeuvres and HERE for Eater’s walk through.

The Bowery may be the hottest street in the city, but is it too hot for its own good?  We have already gotten more than one email from very “in the know” New Yorkers that insist that the LES (Lower East Side), including the Bowery and her hip hotel and bars are OVER. As in DUNZO.  At least for the “cool kids” of the city that refuse to follow trends.

Oh, and don’t even THINK about Chloe’s becoming the new Beatrice Inn! The Horror!

Swoon

It was a night of crazy attire, live music, hanging art and great people at the Swoon Magazine Summer Release Party. DJs Genesis Breyer P-orridge, and DJ Niteline spun their newest mixes and Preacher and the Kinife put on one rockin show.

Last night was a typical night for us, too many invitations combined with not enough time or energy. So we missed Blue and Cream, said no to W New York Downtown Hotel & Residences(too far!) and decided that we’re only going to do events where our friends have some major involvement, not just attending. So our first stop was Jasmin Rosemberg’s launch for her new (and first) book, How the Other Half Hamptons. The event was held at one of our favorite spots, 1OAK.
