via la.guestofaguest: As some of us ran off to Lollapalooza and others hit up Escape to New York in the Hamptons, LA had its very own music festival. Duck Sauce, Chromeo, Ratatat, Skrillex, OFWGKTA and others headlined the Hard Summer Music Festival on Saturday at the L.A. State Historic Park and with 16 hospitalizations and 17 arrests it got insane. MORE>>>

The fashion of a big time summer music festival is a unique beast [See: The Mank]. Part form, part function, each individual fest will display a style that's all its own, and while some are more terrifying than others, they're all worth exploring. Thanks to this flickr pool, we now have an opportunity to break down the style of HARD Summer Music Festival. Let's see what we find. More»
When we talk about summertime mega music festivals, people are most likely to think of Chicago's Lollapalooza as the big ticket of this past weekend. And for good reason: anytime you can throw a party that the hackiest celebrity chef in the universe can describe as "so the bomb dot com," you've gotta go ahead and do that. But you didn't have to leave Los Angeles this weekend to hit a crazy all-day music party, as Duck Sauce, Chromeo, Ratatat, Skrillex, OFWGKTA and others proved by headlining the Hard Summer Music Festival on Saturday at the L.A. State Historic Park. Just in case you happened to be out of town, here's a look at just how insane it got. More»
I love Chicago. Most of my family is from there, so I get to go back every so often, and I always have a great time. It's big, fun, cheap, friendly, accessible and full of cool places and buildings. It might be, pound for pound, the best city in America. Or at least, it might have been the best city in America. Based on these Cobra Snake photos of a Crystal Castles show/pre-Lollapalooza costume party, I'm a little worried that Chi Town may have been built on an Indian Burial Ground or something. Is Lollapalooza always this scary? [all photos via]

The windy city went gaga for Lollapalooza this year. Everyone came dressed in their best lolla garb which didn't limit it to extravagant stripper heels, neon bathing suits, the green man, bare skin, god awful prom dresses (that should of stayed in the closet), big hair and chaps, and even Scooby didn't want to miss out on the festivities. Lollapalooza descends on Chicago's Grant Park August 6th. The former grunge showpiece has widened its scope: Lady Gaga will headline. But indie purists shouldn't complain about the festival going mainstream. Instead, they can flatter themselves by ignoring the top of the bill altogether. More»
[Photo via Getty] via guestofaguest.com: The crowd at this year's Lollapalooza braved the heat during the three day, eight-stage, sold out concert festival in Chicago to catch performances by Depeche Mode, Kings of Leon, Ra Ra Riot, Vampire Weekend, Asher Roth, Santigold, Lykke Li, Kid Cudi, TV on the Radio and many more. While thousands of music-loving youngsters tore up Grant Park having a sloppy good time with their favorite artists, the music scene in the Hamptons was a bit on the quiet side. While we love the outdoor concerts at Surf Lodge, they don't quite hold a match to last weekend's scene at Lollapalooza. MORE>>>
