The queen of quirky pop and the king of insult...One of the best LA couples to unite? ...Or is it a disaster waiting to happen?
Katy Perry's fiance, Russell Brand, is a hot mess. We can see why she may be a bit ashamed by Russy. On his first major U.S. television appearance, he managed to insult virgins, The Jonas Brothers (who may or may not still be virgins), Madonna, and President Bush. He's just that type of dude who doesn't care what he says or who he says it to.
Alas, there must be something enchanting about Mr. Brand. He managed to snatch one of the hottest pop singers out there, even with that shaggy hair of his.
Yet we can't deny, Katy and Russell do seem to somehow fit together! Katy may be a bit ashamed by her boy's actions, but what can she do? Boys will be boys!

Yesterday, Activision released DJ Hero, the latest in a wildly popular series of videogames (Guitar Hero, Rock Band) that let us drunkenly feign musical talent. Before you convince yourself of your spinning talent however, you should check out these legitimate NYC DJs as they get the club going. More»

Give credit to Diesel for upstaging its own famous denim in the name of a good party. Last night, the company celebrated its new line of glow-in-the-dark apparel with a Flash For Fun bash at Love, the neon and stalactite-themed Village club somehow reminiscent of both underground raves and Fraggle Rock. Whether you're a mom, a future mom, or have a mom, "Love, Mom" is relevant to read. The book that sprang from the site "Postcards From Yo Momma," founded by Jessica Grose (Jezebel) and Doree Shafrir (The Observer), held a festive book party last week at the Slipper Room. Fittingly, the book made Daily Candy's list today. Click below to browse through the fans that made it to the party.... More»

What do children's arts, breast cancer awareness, uninsured extreme sport athletes awareness and turtle conservation have in common? They are four causes that are close to the hearts of Gabby Mejia, Lupe Ramos, Miye McCullough, and Katia Tallerico. When I heard of these girls and their Love Vigilantes I was obviously intrigued (who doesn't love extreme sports, turtles, and kids?!). Then I saw the photos from their party at B Bar and fell in love with the Love.
Why do I always miss out on parties like this? The most inspiring thing about these girls, apart from their dance moves, is that they are showing everyone that you don't have to be part of a large organization to do your part in helping out charities that are important to you. Sometimes it's as simple as creating an invite and throwing a party at B Bar.
In a city as wonderful as New York, that has everything and everyone, it can sometimes feel like you’re dwarfed by all those skyscrapers and celebrities. Yes, I know. (Those of you who took my advice last week and are now clones of Kanye West are most likely not having this problem.) For the rest, you too can move the world, or at least move a giant cube called “Alamo” down on Astor Place. Go for it, it’s a good time.
