With the sun shining down over L.A. begging all to come out and play on Saturday, LA CANVAS and ShopWasteland.com teamed up to host The Dive Club, an all-day pool party at the Roosevelt's Tropicana Bar. Between icy summer cocktails, floaties, lounge lamping and catching rays while DJs Mystery Skulls, Kittens, and Keith 2.0 handled the tunes, guests once again enjoyed a sample of the glorious months ahead. Yesterday, Fool's Gold, the NYC-based record label founded by Alain Macklovitch (better known by his DJ name, A-Trak) and Nick Catchdubs brought their annual Day Off event to L.A. with the help of IHEARTCOMIX outside the Shrine Auditorium. Much like its NYC version last month, the free outdoor event featured performances from various members of the Fool's Gold family, but unlike its east coast predecessor, did not get shut down by the cops.

It's hot out there, we get it. Does that mean your brain has melted and you can't pick out a sartorially pleasing outfit? I really hope not, that would be so tragic. So let's just leave the offensive denim shorts, if you can call them that, where they belong. Which really should be the trash.

Anyways, we've figured out just what not to wear this summer, so as to not make a fool of yourself, and that includes the male species too. Rejoice! Womp womp season is upon us, raver children. On Saturday night, A-Trak, Jack Beats, Destructo and friends joined a just barely 18+ crowd and what we might imagine was the greater LA area's majority supply of E at the Wiltern for HARD LA, marking the unofficial start of rave season.  Doubling as the birthday celebration for A-Trak, the crowd sang Happy Birthday as the mix master and his strobe lights appeared on stage, making it extra joyous occasion for the raver community. Sunset Strip Music Fest starts today, Mad Decent Block party is Saturday, and over the weekend we hit up Pacific Festival 2011 in OC where we caught some stellar shows by artists like Cut Copy and Snoop and bumped into some familiar faces who also ventured to the other side of the Orange Curtain for the day.
