Isn't it just embarrassing to show up wearing the same Hervé Leger as every other girl in the room? An easy way to solve that issue is to put down the bandage dress and spend some time browsing through the racks of the various vintage, consignment and thrift shops that can be found from Southampton to Montauk. From places that strictly carry vintage jewelry to shops housed in old warehouses, just take a chance this summer and stand out a little. Remember the good old days when collaborations between high-end designers and low cost stores didn't even exist? Well, after experiencing the crazies at Marni for H&M this morning, I kind of miss those days. I remember first hearing about the collaboration early this fall, and it really didn't register again on my radar until Sofia Coppola teamed up with the brand for their release party in LA. And then, I kind of wanted to buy some of the pieces. So yesterday, I set out to see if I could get my hands on them. Spoiler alert: I didn't get them, but I did pick up a few lessons on the way about the secrets and dangers of hi/lo collaborations and retail experiences.

T-minus 14 days until Marni for H&M hits stores and we can’t wait! We got a preview of the most recent of H&M’s designer collaborations (they’ve also worked with Versace, Stella McCartney, and Karl Lagerfeld), and lots of brightly colored prints, chunky necklaces and plastics bangles, and a commercial directed by Sofia Coppola are just some of the collection’s highlights. The Marni for H&M launch party was held on February 17th at the Sowden House in L.A., and stars like Drew Barrymore, Winona Ryder, Milla Jovovich, Jessica Chastain, and even Mel Gibson came to check out the new line. Marni for H&M is set to arrive in stores and online on March 8th, but like designer collaborations before, it’s sure to sell-out within minutes. Check out some of the items here...if you're not willing to compete with the crazed crowds on March 8th, it may be the only chance you'll get to see them! More»
