If doomsday predictions are right and all media is dying, we know one group that can't be held responsible for its demise: teenagers. According to ailing news outlet the Times, the average teen spends "every waking moment" consuming electronic media. That's a whopping 11 hours a day! More»
All forms of media may be having a tough time lately, but we are glad to see that The Paley Center for Media (what used to be the Museum of Television and Radio) is looking out for us. Last night, at the Cipriani on 42nd Street, their annual gala took place. The guests of honor were Ken Lowe and Sir Martin Sorrell (known for their ground breaking leadership in media) and Rufus Wainwright performed. The event will help with The Paley Center's ongoing efforts to increase the public's understanding of the media and its growing significance in today's society through public and industry programs.

Last week, we were lucky enough to attend so many fabulous parties, we didn't get to post on them all. One that was so much fun was UNVOGUE Magazine's 1st Annual Black & White Holiday Ball at the DEX NY Studio, hosted by MTV's "Made" Runway Coach Glamo. Guests like recording artist Megan McCauley, Malcolm Harris of Mal Sirrah, and contestants from reality show "Stylista" enjoyed complimentary beauty makeovers by the DEX team and cocktails from sponsors V2 Energy Vodka, Red Bull and Jekyll & Hyde Liqueur while Glamo emceed the UNVOGUE "Holiday Looks" runway presentation. The evening benefited Designers for Darfur.

'Tis the season to party, and on December 10th Genre Magazine, with the help of V2 Vodka and Travelocity, did just that. In the spirit of holiday celebration Genre Publisher William Kapfer & Editor-in-Chief Neal Boulton invited loyal readers, advertisers and friends to share some cheer and give thanks. Over 400 party goers poured into East Village hot spot DTOX for creative libations powered by V2. Among the special guests who made the event "that" much more fun:

Last night saw the final Media Meshing Party, as the NYC media horde gathered for a joyous F-U to the sagging industry outlook. Those with jobs, those aspiring to, and those mourning lost ones packed Sweet & Vicious one last time, and made a drenched night into a celebration. Joining our host, Gawker’s Richard Blakeley was a whole Gawker Media posse that included:

Last night, I braved to the cold to head out for Thrillist's 3-year anniversary at Greenhouse, the new eco-friendly club by Jon B's team. Thanks to Flavie Bagnol for whisking me out of the bone-chilling night into the pre-party in the downstairs space. Upon entrance, I was handed my "door prize," a seemingly innocuous business card for Thrillist - but wait! what's on the other side? A pithy phrase (pic at bottom) seemingly to put us back in our places if we were feeling too cool for being admitted, reminiscent of the slave following the victorious Caesar, whispering, "hominem te memento." (See photo of card below). The crowd I shouldered my way through, was made easier to take by pizza from Lassonyc and of course booze from party sponsors Dos Equis, Jose Cuervo, and uncorked.com (I had a bit of each), and the random arrival of my brother Nick, who was "just in the neighborhood".

So, in case you were living in a bubble or just came back from the moon, it's a rough time no matter what career you are in. As many may know, when the going gets tough all you need to do is PARTY! This is what people with jobs (er, ex jobs?) in the media did last night at the monthly Media Meshing organized by Gawker's video Guru Richard Blakely at Sweet and Vicious. We encountered lots of gossip and alcoholics of course.
