[All photos by CHANCE YEH for PMc]. Last night, the city’s scenesters donned masks to channel a little mystery for a preparty at Milk Studios and then the main draw, Interview Magazine’s Russian Masquerade Ball at the new and already popular hot spot, SL. The pregame included mixology concoctions created exclusively for the event by Stoli, jewelry gifts from Alex and Ani as well as makeup artists from MAC to glam up the VIP with the appropriate level of maquillage drama. Hostess Fabiola Beracasa, clad in a romantic full length black and red dress joined Sophia Lamar, Genevieve Jones, Naeem Delbridge, Scott Sartiano, Tim Morehouse, Eugene Remm, Kipton Cronkite, Scott Buccheit, Jasmin Rosemberg and Rachel Heller for the annual costumed affair. [Lorenzo Martone and Olivia Palermo at the Carlos Miele show. Photo by PMc] We’re tired, aren’t you? How about you, Liv and Lorenzo? Running back and forth from the tents, the Metropolitain Pavilion, Milk Studios, and wherever else these crazy designers are holding their shows. It really seems impossible to keep up with them all (let alone pronounce all their names correctly). So just in case you missed out, here’s a little round-up of Rebecca Minkoff, Chris Benz, and Carlos Miele, who all showed their gear to the good people of New York Fashion Week the past couple days. Every New Yorker knows that Thursdays bring about a slew of gallery openings. Last night, Milk Gallery held the opening of an art show that brought to light the sour truth behind Cambodia’s sex trade and human trafficking. Norman Jean Roy’s TRAFFIK exhibition is also made into a book. The whole project started when Roy met a former sex slave, Somaly Mam, while he was on assignment. Some more about their collaboration on the project here. The opening brought out many people, and most of the guests had a laid-back style with an artistic flair whether it be with their flannel, hairdos, or hats.

NYC: It’s a Beauty - It’s a Bitch! a column by John Norwood

JN: So, what’s your favorite feature?
Noot: Do you mean my body?
She was surprised by my question and I was surprised by her answer.
JN: Yup. Your eyes, hair, nose, legs?
Noot: My heart.
Oh, sweetie! Noot Seear and Annie Henley are like that. They are top models who donate much of their time to co-produce BeBare, a charity fashion show and auction. BeBare is a fundraiser for Rose Charities, which supports projects worldwide. According to their website, “BeBare is “the naughtiest fashion auction in the world.” What looks like a standard fashion show at Milk Studios in Manhattan with rows of chairs and a runway, isn’t. First, the cocktail party, then the fashion show auction - then the striptease? The models, mostly women, parade their clothes down the runway while the audience bids on the clothes that a model is wearing. Then the models strip off their clothes right in front of the winning bidder. They strip right down to their Kiki de Montparnasse lingerie. The winning bidders, mostly men, love it. And, the models love doing it. They seem to have so much fun - there must be a little bit of stripper in every model.
